If you end up getting an LT, all will be forgotten. Trust me.

Well from what I've seen. The 991 GT3 RS was able to hang in there with the LT. Which means the GT2 RS should be able to easily beat it especially at a lower price. I don't think it'll be in the 300K range. But if it is there's no point in getting it like many on this thread have said.

I have to admit...I've been eyeing some LTs too...can't lose either way...both will be stellar.

But I will likely stand by my word that if I don't get a 991.2 GT2 RS allocation, I might stop collecting Porsches. Yes, it hurts me more than it hurts PCNA and PAG, but collecting is meant to be fun. And it hasn't been fun lately because of these games.
Agree - if it is the case I'll walk as well.

I have $300k in Porsches on order right now, I'll not pick them up and buy a Singer instead. That $300k + GT2 RS money will get a very nice Singer.

I own both an LT and 991 RS and can say that the LT is MUCH faster. Perhaps lap times on a tight track would be close, but I suspect that's it. Besides, 99% of our time behind the wheel is on the street where outright lateral grip can rarely (never?) be experienced which is where the RS is relatively strong.

That said, I think the GT2 will best the LT on most tracks due to an advantage in aero and grip (more rubber and RWS).

Well good! So what is it like to own a LT? Because if my chances are as bad as you say I might as well start preparing. I've seen the one I've wanted for a while now. But is it worth the money is the question. Does it feel special enough compared to the GT Porsches?

If I was a VAG shareholder, I'd be pissed at Porsche. Basically we will have dozens or hundreds of guys on the sidelines who WOULD throw down $250-300k on a GT2 RS, but they won't be able to get one.

I'm a horsepower guy but I love awesome track capable P-cars. I would pay $250-300k for a GT2 RS, but I won't be able to get one. It would be the perfect P-car for me. I'd track the sh*t out it.

I felt fortunate enough to get my ordered GT4 at sticker and the same for my upcoming 991.2 GT3. I know 500hp will be nice, but it's not 650-700 with a metric crapton of torque. The GT4 was awesome, but way underpowered when I'm used to tracking a 638hp ZR1. I'm thinking the .2 GT3 will be much better but still lacking in the punch you in the face power department. The GT2 RS fixes all of those "problems", but I won't be able to get one...

What a world we all live in where we WANT to spend 250-300k, but Porsche won't take our money. Gross margins at that price have to easily be in excess of 30-40%.

One of the best cars I've ever driven or owned. It's basically a street legal go kart - super quick steering, minimal sound deadening, very light, exotic engine note (especially during shifts) and acceleration that is truly mind bending. I'd be shocked if you didn't fall in love with it immediately.

Check out Mr. JWW's YouTube video titled "First drive" of his LT. It's pretty entertaining. Keep in mind he owned a 991 GT3 and F12 at the same time.

"When someone gives you the keys to an LT, you adopt a new social responsibility."

Everyone I know who's owned and LT says it's great...yet...and this part I can't reconcile...they all sell them.

Maybe worried about depreciation?

Technically outstanding but they don't connect emotionally? "Too good"? That was my initial impression of the 918- objectively the "best" car even made, but emotionally that didn't make me want one.

6 months in with my 570S I'm struggling with the emotional connection - hard to describe it any other way as I like a lot of aspects about it. It's made me reluctant to pick up a LT which was why I wanted to own one for a period first.

I suspect they're worried about maintenance and repair costs post-warranty, which is a valid concern because McLaren's aren't known to be cheap to repair.
