'16 GT3 Seat Dilemma
Guys,
Found pretty much the perfect GT3, hung up on one item, she has the 18 Way Adaptive Sport Seats instead of the carbon fiber backed Full Buckets.
This would be a long term, collectible (I hope), keeper, no track days but would prefer the buckets as I feel they are truer to the nature of Motorsport Porsches.
I am not speculating but would like to know if this would hurt desirability.
Thank you for sharing your opinions.

You will get more than enough responses whether it's better to have them or not. My .02 would be exactly what you said. I would rather have the LWB's representing a truer sign of the car. Good luck.

If you don't plan on tracking, 18 ways are probably better than the buckets. I don't think it will have a big impact on resale in the future, since it doesn't currently. Get the car and enjoy it!

Check current 997 GT3 prices. Value basically is the cost of the seats so not really a huge driver on resale. It might limit your audience some day but are you really that worried about +/- 7k?
When I was shopping for my GT3, I bought one with sofa's and added buckets later. I paid less for a car without buckets, paid for cost of buckets; now worth the price of a car with buckets

If the car has everything else you want I'd go with the car. If you plan to keep it long term it is highly likely that the buckets will be available at some point. In the interim it is also highly likely that someone will get one with buckets and prefer the 18 ways. So a trade is a good possibility.

I'd say the buckets will be more collectible, but what is collectible to one isn't necessarily collectible to another. I'm not going to open that can of worms, but I wouldnt buy one as a spec collectible car unless it was EXACTLY the way you want it.....in the event you actually have to drive it and not treat it as a garage queen.

Get what you want, not what you think is better for resale.
If you believe the LWB are the seat for the car, then buying one with the 18-ways will make you feel like you're owning less of a car.
No one call tell what resale will be like.
FWIW, most people outside of RL prefer the 18-ways to the LWBs, but then those same people are probably less likely to buy a used 991 GT3 some 10 years down the road.

Yes, go with what you want. I will say make sure whatever seat you get works for you by way of what's good for your posture and back. My wife (who is 5.11 and not overweight) sat in the buckets for a 2 minute drive and was in agony and swore never to sit in a car that had them!
If the car is for investment, get either seat but just don't drive the car at all!

It really comes down to how long you are willing to wait for the perfect car to show up. It might show on the market next month, or it might show up in 8-12 months. who knows
if you are doing it for resale value i'd wait for the buckets. If its just because you're like me and hate the way the sofas look and want some carbon flare there are plenty of aftermarket options... you can even customize materials, colors, stitching.
