GT3 vs R8 V10 plus
#2
I have both (though a manual V10 R8). I love them both for different reasons. My GT3 is a 997.2 thus manual. I have tracked the 991GT3 as well for a few days, and while it is superb, I like the slightly smalled 997. For spirited driving and on the track, GT3 hands down. I have 15,000 track miles on my only GT3 and it is more enjoyable than the R8 for that purpose. On the street/road, the R8 is just so pretty, comfortable and capable, it's hard to get rid of. And, as a normally-aspirated V10 manual, it is unique, and should continue to be so as the years pass. I think Audi nailed the styling. So, depends on what you are doing with it. But in my opinion, the driving experience of a GT3 (997.2) is just so good, if one car had to go, it would be the R8. For me.

Traded R8 v10 plus for 991 GT3. Audi is a great DD but I wanted a more capable track car and GT3 filled the bill. On the street the PDK does not work well because of the too quickly shifting software in std auto mode, thus you need to shift manually to drive it properly. The Audi dual clutch tuned much better for street as is the entire car. Ground clearance also better in Audi. Even the Plus , which has less weight than std V 10, is still around 3600 lbs without driver and the extra weight is very noticeable on the track. V10 had higher top speed and sounded great but GT3 still faster around a circuit. PS if you track an R8 put racing brake fluid in ASAP. Audio pretty good in Audi, doesn't matter in the Porsche...
I also have GT 4 and that is probably the best of both worlds and 100 k less than the Plus.
Cheers.

had a v10 plus for about a year and a half. it was a great street car and looked amazing. it really came alive with a custom exhaust. but the 991 is better in almost every way except for looks imo.
