First impressions and pics of my first ever Porsche GT3
It's exciting to post my first thread on this forum as a new 991 GT3 owner, having just taken delivery yesterday of a gently used 2014 GT3 in GT Silver with Martini livery stripes. Interior has red deviated stitching and belts.
People roll down their windows and shout out questions at traffic lights.
I've attached some pics shot for me by a very talented photographer, Greg Castell of flat6photowerks.com (based in Cleveland). Also, hats off to Porsche Beachwood and my SA Dave McCaig who made the buying process relaxed and enjoyable.
Besides the test drive, I've only driven the car twice since taking delivery yesterday, a couple of jaunts through some city traffic and a bit of open freeway driving. But wow, it's bonkers. The sound of the engine between 5,000-9,000rpmand those SHIFTS. Amazing.
The steering is so very direct and well weighted. It's so much better than any other 911 I've ever driven, including brand new 991 GTS, 50th Anniv 911, Cayman GTS, and Boxster Smuch less any BMW or Audi I've had or driven. It just makes you want to swerve around in your lane to feel it.
The suspension is firm but comfortable, I think. I don't find it harsh at all. In fact, my old '13 Boxster S with its standard (not PASM) suspension on its P-Zero tires seemed more jittery and less comfortable. More importantly, it never seems to lose grip with the ground even over bumps that would upset other cars.
I'm looking forward to some better drives when the weather warms and when I get a chance to take it out to some rural roads with some curves and elevation changes. And am hoping to get it to at least 1 or 2 road track days this spring and summer around the midwest region, if anyone has any suggestions.
Meantime, enjoy the pics!

Gorgeous car and photos. For your track question in which state are you located?

Central Ohio... It's been about 10 years since I went to any track event. I've been to Gingerman and Grattan a couple times at track days organized by 3ballsracing.com, which I see still organizes them at those tracks as well as Mid-Ohio, which is closer to me but which I've never driven.
Of the 2 tracks I've driven, I liked Grattan better for its few elevation changes. I liked how both tracks were basically in green pastures so if you screw up you'd go into the grass but not hit concrete walls of which there were hardly any.
10 years ago, the folks attending the 3ballsracing.com events seemed a nice lot from diverse backgrounds, most BMW M-car types but an interesting variety of other enthusiasts, too, including some Porsche.
I'm not an experienced track driver at all but enjoy an involving road course. Not interested in racing or even really timing laps. Just some fun and a chance to learn and improve my driving abilities.
Any suggestions?
