Coming from a 2012 GT-R there nothing like the acceleration that car possesses, like getting hit with a sledge hammer after stepping on the throttle. All in all the GT3 is a much more fun car, but I miss the brutal acceleration the GT-R has.

Launch control was a ton of fun in that car....All around though the GT3 is a lot more fun to drive.....

The GTR is fast but has no endurance. Transmission and brakes overheat at an incredible pace (2laps).
And Nissan warranty is also ridiculous : you void if if you turn off VDC or go on track.

For a lap, the GTR may "win", but for a whole session it's another story.
You need to mod the car to track it properly...

I drove the NISMO GTR a month ago and was blown away with how easy it was to be fast on track.

that being said it was almost too easy and the owner really chucked it into corners in a manner that I would consider to be suicidal in a Porsche.

similar setup here. intake, exhaust, injectors and e85. Its kind of cool cruising around knowing that nothing short of a liter bike will touch you.

My main complaint would be the seating position and size. After driving my FRS all day getting into the GTR it feels like an SUV. And yes they definitely cheaped out in some areas of the car in the pursuit of performance.

I was following a GTR that "stepped it up" when he saw Mr Purple behind him.

He should have crashed 3 times a lap but the car just left big fat black stripes in the track and somehow just took a wider line and made it through the corner. The driver was horrific and still probably bullied everyone in the group.

yes, the GT-R is fantastic at masking your mistakes. I spent 2 years and many many track days with my 2012 GT-R. I put down some very good times. the first day I went out in the GT3, I went sideways on the third turn. definitely a different animal that takes a lot more finesse.

my GT-R was full bolt-ons and put down around 630whp/670wtq. the acceleration was phenomenal. however, the car was big and bulky and you could feel it's size and weight. on track, it wouldn't last close to as long as the GT3 does as it tends to overheat quick.

while the GT3 stock isn't as fast as the GT-R stock, my buddies and I have looked at our data from our local track (Buttonwillow) and it looks like the GT3 has the same top speed down the straight as a 2012 GT-R (with midpipe and intake), greater lateral g's and better braking. we'll see, I still am spooked by this car on track.

Also a GTR convert. Car never moved me. It's fast, but its not very attractive and it driving it to me wasn't really an "experience". When I bought it, I was cross-shopping with 997.2 GT3's, which is what I really wanted. I "settled" for the significantly faster and cheaper car in another "automotive family" I always dreamed of owning and was ultimately disappointed. I sold it after a a year or so and got into my current 991.3. No regrets at all.
