Hi guys,

Just about to install a 4 post hoist at home. The lift will have GT3 on top and bottom. I've seen many fellow rennlisters with stackers and wanted to get your opinions on how much room I have to play with.

Garage height: 3000mm
Top level GT3: 1300mm (approx)
Middle metal ramp car sits on: 110mm
Bottom level GT3: 1300mm

From your own experiences, am I comfortable with approx 300mm to play with?

As a side question, how accurate is the lift, as in will it go up slow enough so I can control the unit in order to avoid it smashing into the roof?

You should have plenty of room. The lift is very controlled raising it. Best purchase I made outside of my GT3. I have a gt3 top and bottom my ceiling is 11'2 and have a lot of extra room.

They move slow, even with 220.

I have 2946mm (116"), and easily fit a 991 Gt3 rs (taller than gt3) under, and 991 Gt3 on top. Lift is a bendpak hd9 (4" stops).

My ceiling is 3300mm and my car fits with enough room for me to stand under her and have 250mm of room to spare ........

I have a 4 tone 2 post workshop hoist maximium lift height is 1850mm under the lifting arms,,,my 06 Carrera S is 1300mm tall and I am 1700mm tall, so 3000mm to roof of the Porsche,,,,,this allows me 300mm to the ceiling to play with if needed .This is plenty of room for maintenance work on the Porsche ,,,,my Rodeo Ute is 1750mm and I Can just fit it under the Carrera if needed with around 100mm clearance between the cars and close to 200mm between the ceiling and the Carrera ,,,,it is a little tight and nerve racking when driving under the Carrera but it can be done ,,,obviously the more height you can achieve the better off you will be , my wifes Honda Civic is around 1400mm and is an easy fit under the Porsche...Hope this helps

Here you go... 991 GT3 on top, 997 RS on the bottom. The 991 RS can fit under the 991 GT3.

One thing to take in consideration is the garage door and the height under that....I back my top car in and the door sits a couple of inches above where the hood meets the windshield....plenty of room above to lift if the garage is closed though....

The minimum ceiling height for 2 sports cars is about 112 inches. This is all depending on your garage door and electric opener. If you change your garage opener to a wall type and change your door rails this will allow more room. You will also have to place shims under the base of your lift in order to have your safety stops work because they are preset in the posts on the lift. I have helped several friends.
Buy a lift and enjoy another cars.

My garage is 2 cars deep, and the lift will be in the deep end of the garage so the door itself poses no issues. My measurement of 3.05 metres is lowest point of the trusses

Question for those with lifts, did you have to make sure that the foundation/slab under the garage floor could hold that much weight?

With a four post I don't think it's an issue - weight is distributed similar to car wheels. Bolting it down, the instructions for the HD-9 ask to drill approximately 4.5" so if you want to anchor you may want to check your thickness. I didn't anchor and it's very stable.
