I am not sure how Porsche differs from Ferrari on this, limited production below demand levels. A halo car by definition is something that is built in limited quantities. Maybe Porsche should just announce a number such as 'there will be 2000 cars produced" and leave it at that.
I do think there will be a second run, with new electronics and usual running improvements, but there will always be fewer built than demand. That what they want. As for distribution there is nothing new. Dealer call unless there is a special like the 918 buyers allocation.

is totally different than asking a supplier a carbon hood
or keeping the same piston speed
they re still in the GT3 design parameters
so no RnD but parts bin for RS
indeed RS above versus a GT3
GT3 (either in RS sauce) versus a Carrera 2S in other hand
we have RnD on project 991 design minor parts
but major on the 9A1 engine compartment
in summary
GT3 RS Vs GT3 =Parts bin
GT3 RS and GT3 Vs Carrera2/4/S/GTS =RnD
Of course we have to consider
on RS Vs GT3 Porsche stepped back
reducing Engine max RPM lower and lower
higher the gear
So really a Total Parts Bin Project
and one that still today i can t think
considering that with
RS titanium exhaust
RS polycarbonate rear windows
parts bin
mounted on a GT3
=Weight on GT3 much less than RS Weight!
and you can go beyond with all carbons hood etc. but not worth the money for the track opex still going to steel vs pccb
and weight there matters
so for me going to Turbo heavy body parts bin
rather than optimizing the GT3 one was a big mistake
and not yet clear the real reasons
