Stupid to pay $315k for a GT3RS???
So I really need this GT3RS. Currently have a 2014 Turbo S that I love (pictured) with about 6800 miles on it.. I haven't decided if I want to trade (been quoted 137 on the trade in) or just keep both...
Is it really stupid to pay $315k+ right now for a GT3RS? I mean it isn't about being able to afford it or not. Its the principle of paying that much over MSRP and I just don't want to get hammered if these things are trading near MSRP in a few years.
They are nowhere near as limited as the '11 4.0s so I do not see that type of appreciation. But Possibly being the last NA GT3RS is certainly a plus.
I also have watched 4 ebay auctions end without meeting reserve at 260, 275, 290 so that has to say something about the current market. I hate overpaying!!
Thoughts?

It's very hard to tell where this car will go with out being able to see the future. Really in comes down to how bad do you want it and how important is 100K to you. I have paid over for a car, knew I wouldn't get it back and never looked back. At this point it looks like unless you are willing to pay over MSRP you are not going to get one.

I think you kind of answered your own question...
If you need the car and have the means to pay for it, then you must get the car.
Stupid or not that will the future tell us.

Paying over for a car isn't really that different to an expensive vacation or using x sets of rubber and associated running costs in a track season - money buys experiences and if for you that is owning an RS, then why not do it?

I was offered $120 over list from a dealer which would indicate they feel it is worth much more. If you love the car then do it. I didn't take the offer which I guess also indicates how much I am in love with it. If the cost doesn't change your lifestyle do it and never look back. If you buy it, you will cry once and smile there after. If you don't, you will cry every time you see or hear of an RS.

For various reasons I personally wouldn't do it, but that doesn't make it stupid. If you can afford it and will feel good about the purchase afterwards then buy it. If it's going to cause you angst worrying about future resale and whether you overpaid, then don't. Good luck with your choice.

I have an RS allocated and am paying over MSRP. There is a limited amount of these CURRENTLY and who knows what will be produced. This part I have a hard time with everyone saying is that the current over MSRP can't hold. What makes you think that??? If the buyers that are paying over MSRP don't fire sale them...hard to think they would...what makes anyone think the price will go down UNLESS there is a new flood of RS's coming into the market.

If you want it, and it fits your budget, buy it. Don't over complicate it.

I can't speak on the price of the RS but do you use the Turbo as your DD? And if so looking to replace it with an RS as your DD? If so, hell no, keep both because the GT3 in my experience is no where near as good as a DD compared to a Turbo. If your turbo is more of a weekend car/track care, replace it with the RS
