Stupid to pay $315k for a GT3RS???

IMO the RS is not worth $150k more than an equally equipped GT3. You could buy two GT3's or keep the turbo and get a GT3 to play with until the .2 RS comes out.

Keep the Turbo for touring, buy a GT3 for the track and have both for the same price.

A gt3 around 160k will make you happy. Except there is a rs above it.
If you want the best get the rs. If you want the gt3 experience you can get a gt3 and keep the turbo s.
But people want the best. If there is something better people always chase for it.
Some time the last 10% gain will cost 100% price. Many people think it's not worse it but when you hold the best of best you have a better chance to gain even more.
Is the 997.2 rs 4.0 worse 300k more than 3.8?
I know 991.1 rs is not 600 units 4.0 rs. But 4.0 is around 500k now and .1 rs is around 300k.
If the cleaning lady is right there is no .2 NA rs you 300k may become 350 or 380k. Even there is a .2 NA rs you can trade in your .1 get the .2. Trade in price should be around msrp. If they want you pay 200k plus your .1 rs you have choice not to sale and just keep the .1.
I can trade in my rs for a gt3 and a gt4 now. Would I do it? NO!

Try get your dealer come to 300k if you trade in your turbo s. They make money on your trade in too. If they won't move the price for the rs and you are not sure what is your turbo s worse you can find a car broker they most likely will give you a better deal than dealer. If your time worse more than money you can save just do whatever you want.

There are plenty of RSs you can buy for $100k over (stealerships want more than $100k over). I was offered 3 RSs from $75k to $100k over and passed on all of them. The car just isn't worth that kind of number (and I'm willing to pay over MSRP).
As was mentioned...you don't NEED an RS, you WANT an RS. I WANT an RS and a 4.0RS but I don't see the value in them at their current prices.

Everyone will have an opinion on what they would do, in the end you need to do what makes you happy.
I have an RS coming at msrp, will I trade my GT3, probably not. I purchased 2 cars last week and today just made the wire transfer to purchase a new MClaren which will be here on Wednesday. Tomorrow is not promised. When I ask my wife, she always says the same thing"you have worked hard and provided for your family, you have earned the right to buy what you want". My financial advisors always say I should give them the money for further investment.
But, I will tell you this, it's nice when I see a lot of $ on the screen, but I have way more fun when I get in my cars. That's what matters to me.
I always forget the cost when I press the go pedal.

You said that you hate paying over, so don't. I don't know if you can get a new Ferrari 488 for MSRP or not but I would rather have one of those if they are close to the same price. At least you won't have to worry about 95% of the population thinking that you put a giant wing on a base 911. There are no "base" Ferraris. Just sayin'.

Interesting that you're asking our opinion. To me, only you can answer your question. As many have said, if money is not an object to you then go for it. Over my entire life there are things I've paid more than what they're worth and bought without ever looking back or feeling guilty. Just get it and very shortly there after you won't miss a beat. Oh by the way, you'll certainly have a big smile.

More expensive? Sure. But if that's the criteria for what makes the "best" then an RS even at $315K falls far short of tons of cars including many Porsches. Sorry; buy a car (or anything else) because it fills a need or desire, not because you're chasing some mythical "best" that will be surpassed all too soon.
Nothing personal, just my philosophical $.02. I'll come down off my soapbox now.....

Hopefully, the OP wants an RS because it speaks to him on some level, not because it's "the best". That seems like a poor rationale for choosing a car and it's not even true by most measures. An RS isn't "better" than a GT3 isn't better than a GT4, isn't better than a Turbo, etc. They're different and offer different strengths and weaknesses....but better? More expensive? Sure. And to add,to me the RS is worth 20K without a manual tranny. I am serious!

OP, there's a Chris Harris video you might enjoy watching that kinda sorta addresses your question...
IMHO, the RS is not worth the premium, but at the same time, I'm guilty of overspending for things I've "needed" in the past.
