Default Who would request PTS for your next GT car?

If you plan to buy a GT car in the future (GT4, GT3, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, or whatever), would you try to order PTS?

If PTS is becoming more desirable and only a few PTS allocations are granted (maybe 5% or less of any given model), I wonder how big the demand will be going forward, and whether Porsche should consider adding more PTS spots. For this poll, let's assume the following current implications hold true: 1) PTS would cost $5500 USD, 2) PTS may delay your production, and 3) you still have to pick from the approved PTS list or go through a very long and uncertain approval for new PTS colours.

Good way to let Germany know what we want.

My philosophy is that if I'm spending this much money, then I want to personalize its exterior color as much as I want. GT car competitors give buyers the option, so I feel Porsche should to. Dare I say it, but if more GT buyers want PTS than other model buyers, then get rid of PTS for those models in order to increase the capacity for GT cars.

I depends a bit on the standard and special colors available as well. I could live without PTS if the standard palette was more desirable.

Porsche just nailed it on the .1 997 RS.

Not to worried about the outside of the car. White is fine. But would love to be able to customize the inside. Less is more.

Exactly. The PTS marketing scam is alive and well. Can we get these cars in something other than a black interior? Porsche will be Porsche, inflating a non existent demand to a fully blown secondary market offering nothing but a rainbow full of options that has nothing to do with driving. No thanks.

I tried 2 different times to order PTS while it was offered on the Porsche build it now configurator only to be told it's not actually available. I'd have to get lucky through a mysterious allocation process to actually get PTS despite having the extra $5500 in hand. Frankly I'd rather suffer an IRS audit than go through PTS BS again.

You are completely correct. However I just don't get excited about the usual viper greens and Mexico blues.

I'm totally happy with my guards red GT3.

The thing about a few of the PTS colors is I enjoy looking at them and admire their owners, but personally wouldn't be comfortable driving it, just too much attention.

PTS marketing scam? Do you mean because PTS is often listed on the configurator when not available? If there is a big Porsche-sponsored PTS marketing campaign, I missed it. In fact, without Ed, I doubt even most RLers (who are typically more informed than your off-the-street p-car buyer) would know much of anything about PTS. If you Google "Porsche Paint to Sample", the first two pages of websites that come up are almost all discussion forums like RL, P-9 and 6speed. It's not until the bottom of the second page that a Porsche link appears.

+1 This is my biggest complaint about PTS too. If the process were predictable and transparent, I think it would be much easier to accept even if one weren't successful.

Looks like of the responders so far, a fair majority would go for it (even in its current imperfect state). Chances are we're a skewed sample, but still I think it's very telling. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and votes.

Another question: how would people feel if PTS were available in unlimited supply, like most other options? Would it take something away from it and make PTS less desirable, if, say, 20% of the RSs on the road were done in PTS Riviera blue? Or is that irrelevant as long as you get what you want? What do people think is the "right" amount of PTS to allow (if the factory could handle any amount)?
