I'm still amazed that you can't order whatever color you like on a $150-250k car in 2015! It shouldn't be that hard. I know Eduardo knows the difficulties it creates at production line. But, feels like there is room for improvement.

I'm currently without a Signal Yellow car. I need to order another one sometime when a new model tickles my fancy.

True. The PTS client has to be patient and tolerant. And he can't be stingy or rejection-sensitive. Yes, I realize how lame this sounds. You either decide it's worth it or it's not. I certainly understand why many would pass. When running your CBA, just don't make the mistake of calculating cost as solely the $5500 option charge.

I'd have to offer that many other companies make it easier albeit not less money. Having to wait is part of the game with PTS but that is generally mitigated by having multiple cars to play with in your current garage.

I would kill for it.
I've bought a GT3 and GT4 this calendar year and I tried unsuccessfully on both and it pisses me off.
It's a uniqueness desire and for resale...
I think I have a good knack for picking out desirable colors and set ups...
I do think it needs to be for a selective number of builds...not unlimited...
My two cents..

I think PTS is really a symptom of the underlying problem which is really boring color options in the standard range. I had my Carrera RS book out a few weeks ago to work through options for a future order and it reminded me of this once again. If they just offered some of the interesting colors, rather than a bunch of dull metallics PTS would be a whole lot less necessary.

Logistically there should not be any reason to have issues with certain "special" colors, but it is easy to display non existent difficulties in logistics to the public.

Three Wheelin'
I view this three ways, from an aestetic perspective, from a cost perspective and from a resale perspective.
First, from an aestetic perspective, I'm not exicted about a "look at me" color. It's too show-offish for my tastes and I've out-grown that view to a more understated perspective. If I take the car to court or to a client, I don't want to be regarded as a flashy ****.
Second, from a cost perspective, $5,500.00 relative to other options that I regard to generally be overpriced, is about right given I've experienced the costs of fully wrapping a car for a price that exceeds this amount. So, that would pass my decision to buy PTS or not.
Lastly, from a resale perspective, this is closely tied to the second factor and, if the car has reduced depreciation or, perhaps the remote possibility of appreciation, that's nice. But, I'll likely be driving the hell out of the car for life anyways so, this is a fairly moot issue.
In summary, I probably would not buy PTS except for a very special car that would only be driven very infrequently on weekends and, that would likely be an exotic like a 918 or 960 that I would like some day to afford. Otherwise, no, not an option.
Dan (spent some time thinking about it)

I'm seriously considering it. My deposit slip for a 991.2 RS says I have the first available car at the dealer. I assume this means after the 918 owners decide if they want one. That may give me enough time to get the order in while the window is open.

I would pay $20k for any historic porche color I wanted no problem. Right now at only $2k over special colors its too cheap for even dealers to take PTS slots for stock builds. Make sure they go to customers and make sure they're prepared to pay for it seems good to me.
