Manual transmissions were brought up at the tech tactics, basically outside of north america very few porsches are sold with manual transmissions, i think it was 4%? maybe 2%?
Over here something like 24% of caymans are manual and 20% of 911s, iirc. They said if you want manual you need to vote with your wallet and start buying manual cars and telling your friends to do the same.

I'm as big of a fan as any of a manual transmission. That being said, the GT3's PDK is awesome, and I do like it as part of the package the car provides. The overwhelming majority of the marketplace feels the same (this majority of the marketplace is not properly represented on Rennlist).
Based on my understanding of the auto industry, the sources that I have, and my own opinion, I'm confident Porsche will continue manufacturing naturally aspirated GT cars for at least two more generations (991.2 & 992). That was made clear by AP in numerous interviews, the recipe is yielding them too much success, and the fact that the entire 911 line up outside GT cars is going turbo will give them all the green points they need to get their average CO2 output where it needs to be. The turbo 911 line up will make GT production irrelevant (it's all based on averages!).
I do not believe we'll see a vehicle wearing the GT3 or GT3RS monicker with turbos. That's reserved for the GT2 and GT2 RS. If the NA GT3 ends, I believe the naming scheme will end with it.
There is a good chance the Porsche will produce a 991.2 GT2 in tandem with the 991.2 GT3. That profit gravy train is too big to say no to.
I also want to reiterate what others have said, 9/10 times anyone in a car dealership doesn't know jack sh*%^. Only the owner, and maybe the GM will have a good feel for upcoming products.

Three Wheelin'
Although AP would love to keep NA cars going the pressure on VW will be huge to demonstrate they will be the number one citizen when it comes to emissions. I do believe that sooner or later shift to Turbos is inevitable BUT the GT3 moniker will remain as it is a brand on its own within Porsche.

thanks for all the replies guys! you have given me much to think about! based on all the insight, think I might wait for the perfect spec 991 gen 1 in pdk and then wait for the gen 2 (or whatever it will end up being) and take the manual option of that given that I should be quite high on the waiting list ...and then the hardest job will be to try and see if I can get the "boss" to go for the multiple GT garage like some of you fine gentleman...
