Agree^

It's a complicated situation.

Porsche sure makes enough cars to "afford" having the gt3/RS polluting a little more and still stay within "green peace" regulation. Unlike Ferrari where the the 458 was sacrificed to reach co2 goals.

But with how popular the GT cars have become, average co2 numbers might become a limiting factor for production.

And I don't think anyone still knows what the crazy politicians will decide after dieselgate. One thing is for sure and that's we are in for a big change.
Hold on to your cars and drive safe.

imagine what will happen with the current 997+991.1 pricing/value
- - if the 991.2 GT3+RS will come with a 0€ manual option and with no or high limit (20.000+ units on GT3 and 5.000+ on RS) production capacity.

manual option is an absolute real possibility based of the 991R. (all press cars will be PDK in the name of laptimes)

and the "unlimited" production capacity in the name of ... $

.2 GT3 will get manual option but .2 RS will be PDK only. This was specifically stated by the head of the Porsche GT cars department two months ago.

Unlimited production capacity in the name of $ would be a very bad idea and only shoot Porsche in the foot. If anyone can buy a GT3or RS anytime and you see them everywhere, they become less special, and demand would actually drop below what it is today.

On the other hand, increasing RS production by 10% wouldn't be a bad idea, as right now they are making too few RS cars. Normally Porsche tries to make just a few less cars than demand. This year they could likely sell another 500 RS cars no problem.

Ummmm, I don't believe he SPECIFICALLY said .2 gt3 will get a manual option, he said something to the affect that the NEXT gt3 would have a choice. While I'm thinking the chances are high we will see a .2 version we must be careful assuming anything when AP speaks, curious that no one at factory seems to know anything about status of a .2 from motorsports at this stage....very quiet right now with regards to a .2 and it should be fully underway although since little will change in a .2 version it would not take long if and when they get decide to get after it.

The only reason for me to get the 991.2 is if it comes with the Manual option. I would like a Manual again but time is against me since in these high end sports cars they are becoming obsolete

As long as there is demand, they are not obsolete. Voting with your pocketbook seems to make a difference. If the 911R and Manual GT3 (if made) sell well, they won't be the last ones.

You should've seen my customer purchase feedback survey I have received from PCNA : since I had a very positive buying experience,my feedback was very positive of course. In the comments section I went on and on about what I expect from the brand and of course about keeping the NA engines and manual transmissions. Every service feedback survey goes along the same lines. They must know me by now at PCNA.

thanks for all the replies guys! you have given me much to think about! based on all the insight, think I might wait for the perfect spec 991 gen 1 in pdk and then wait for the gen 2 (or whatever it will end up being) and take the manual option of that given that I should be quite high on the waiting list ...and then the hardest job will be to try and see if I can get the "boss" to go for the multiple GT garage like some of you fine gentleman...

I feel like they almost have to make a manual 991.2 GT3 simply so they can fish all us GT4 owners to spend more money and the 981.2 GT4 can continue its job in fishing new customers to the brand.

I wonder how many ppl that have a 911R deposit will go after the 991.2 GT3 in MT when nobody gets one?

I have a deposit on both cars since I think getting a 911R is highly unlikely.

Funny, I did the exact opposite. I told them my 991 GT3 was my 25th Porsche and it was by far the best and to please keep the PDK in the next one.

Let's not create a misunderstanding. To be clear,I have not seen 1 post, from myself included, where a manual supporter is requesting a manual only GT3,we are simply asking for a choice.

+1

We just want a choice since not all of us want a track weapon. I just want a NA sports car.
