"Thrilling" track day video
Found this on youtube. Trackday at Monza in a 991 GT3. Unlike typical DE trackdays common in N. America, this one seems like a race where you can pass whenever and in whatever way you want. Makes for an entertaining video, but wow.....I would get nervous about safety. Make sure you watch the whole thing, as he does battle with a GTR, another 991 GT3, Huracan, 991 GT3 RS, and 650S......

Hes a great driver! Friend of Manu (Powerslider) who is also a very quick "amateur" 991 GT3 track driver in Europe (Ring time full track - not BTG - 7.30ish etc).
He obviously has some race car background being comfortable going so close. Goes to show you don't need a Huracan, GT3RS or GTR to be the fastest car in a supercar track day if you have skillz!
Just love Monza too. Thats one great track. Very fast - he clocks 265kmph on the main straight and gets to 240-255km in two other places on that track. That main straight must see up to 300kmph with the competition cars - its a very fast. I have always had Monza on my bucket list. Id like to do Imola too. In some ways these are similar to some of our NZ tracks but a little longer...
Here he is taking the supercar time attack trophy at Imola (1.57.44):

North American track days tend to be more organized/structured than RoW. My first visit to Spa had the organizer telling us: "there is no passing rules here, you get passed when you're slower... it's the wild west..."
Asia is only worse...

That's a very good point indeed. Both the driver in the video above and Man (Poweslider) both use the Trofeo R exclusively and swear its a few seconds faster per lap on any given Euro track (Ring aside). This could put the GT3 on similar lap time to the RS (like for like driver) on many circuits I guess...

I did a Spa track day earlier this year and LOVED the Euro DE rules. I was in an Exige so had to drive momentum-style and I kept wanting to yell "great success" when flinging the car into places like Pouhon alongside folks who over-slowed their cars. Makes me almost want to emigrate

What are Euro DE rules?

Rule no 1 is that you keep your windows closed and don't put your hand out doing some weird signals.
Seriously. It is for safety. Same hand could slip out in a rolling-over scenario and you gonna loose it.
I have no clue why you have to do it in NA. The wind buffeting must be killing your ears, too.
Rule no 2 is that you look in the mirrors and make the faster guy's life easier.
Some events (if not most) forbid overtaking in the turns but late braking and taking the line is ok.

I did a private trackday with RSR Nurburg at Spa and yes, windows closed and watch mirrors and overtaking permitted anywhere. Corner workers had authority to black flag asshats driving over their head, but I routinely overtook cars in Pouhon, a very long downhill left hander with no black flag. It would suck the joy our of that corner to have to trundle along at any pace where you were not in a constant state of correction and it is so wide you can easily slow just a tad extra on entry in order to tighten you line enough to leave room for the outside car and still hang the car out yelling "wahoo" over the squeal of all 4 tires. Wish I could do that at, say 15-18 at CoTA. Plenty of room.

It is kind of weird how the rules can be so different.
A good friend of mine just sent his 997cup to the US. Still got fixed windows so he's stuck with sharing my slow 996.3 next Wednesday.
😁
Don't even want to know what's it like driving in the rain with windows down.
