Garage door with new lift
So I am upgrading the garage to add a bendpak 10a-LP.
My garage door is currently in the way, but I have plenty of 13.5 feet of clieling height so I want to raise the tracks and put the garage door opener above the 12 feet 2" of lift height.
Can I simply get more straight track for the vertical and raise he current garage door so that it goes to horizontal at 13 ft? Or is it more complicated an that? How have others dealt with this?

Door opener
You can normally get a high lift extension kit from the door manufacturer for the track and use a Liftmaster 3800 jackshaft type opener and that gets rid of the opener and opener rail between the tracks. I have the Wayne Dalton "I drive" type jackshaft opener (3) which is not available now but they have served me well for ten years as has the Rotary SPOA10.

You'll need new torsion springs more than likely since the door has to continue going straight up for a longer length of travel. Have a pro do it. Someone who does custom work. The regular door guys are clueless. My guy built mine on the fly.
Any questions, let me know. I'll be happy to help.

I did similar to Awew above. Used a local place and they installed the same lift master pointed out by Money. Installed new track and spring - all hardware on the ceiling gone. Worked out very well and gave me the clearance needed. My ceiling is only 10'6" high, and I can get the gt3 up to the second to the top rung.

I envy all you guys. I'm trying to convince the Queen Bee to put a lift in and she doesn't want to hear anything about it. Time is running out, I'm not getting any younger. What do I do?

Treat every day as a gift. Tomorrow is no guarantee. Enjoy life and if it brings you joy and doesn't hurt you financially, emotionally, or physically, what's the excuse? Nike got it right... Just do it.
