It's good we keep seeing these cars getting better and better ...it just means Porsche has to up its game ...especially in weight reductions of all models ....weight is the serious killer in our new gen cars.. Our GT cars need to start coming in below the 1250kg for our 475/500bhp models ...but with all tech I believe the only way is lightened chassis..

That's a shame. Besides the friendly price of entry of the 540C, it also has Iron brake rotors (570S is only Carbon and reviewed as lacking feel).

Can only dream of a Mac 540 or 570 with a naturally aspirated 500 plus hp engine.

Yep, and while we're dreaming, I'll take mine with Manual gearbox

Throw in one of these for good measure.

I think the interesting niche in the near future will be any of these "near-supercars" will be any of them......with a manual. Most of these are already too fast for the average Joe to get the most out of them. So why not?

Love the rear, the front looks a bit weird. I would never buy one new. Wait a year. Non P1 McLarens drop like a rock.

Good for those of us who are patient and don't need the latest version. If a lightly-used track version of this thing drops to around $125K, I could be interested. McLarens are very different from Porsches, and have their own kind of non-German high-tech appeal.

For sure. There will be a fire sale on the 570S coupes when the spider comes out in a year.

Until McLaren increases is dealership network in the U.S., it's just hard to compare the 570S with its natural rivals (like the R8 or TTS).

Especially if it's marketing premise is a "daily supercar".

True. People put up with the limited dealership networks of Ferrari and Lamborghini because those are supposed to be rare, exotic cars that by definition you drive rarely, so if they need service, you expect them to trailer away your car for a week.

For a daily driver sports car, that kind of limited dealership access will become unbearable very quickly. This is a big advantage for Porsche, Audi, and Acura and their "daily supercar" options.

The elephant in the room with any McLaren purchase is the resale value.

I bought my 12C Spider for 2/3 of MSRP when it was just 18 mos old, with the 650S being launched. Wonderful wonderful car, incredibly built, so much neat tech, and beautiful, but seriously, who the heck with any money sense would ever buy one new??

I get it that McLaren is new to consumer cars and still learning the game, but their product strategy is completely retarded. They are brilliant engineers and car guys... they need some serious management know how in their leadership team.

I bought 29 month old Cayenne Turbo with low miles and extended warranty for 1/2 MSRP, and that's one of Porsche's best sellers. It's not untypical depreciation curve for luxury cars. Still much better than S class. We are spoiled by GT3s being practically free to own now.

I suspect most Turbo and R8 owners never go to the track. Makes total sense to make a car engaging on the road. Track Oriented versions to follow.
