If you're thinking keeping long, long term for the $$$ value, would want the RS, but if you're asking solely for a drivers car, definitely would want the 991 GT3.

These listings for a 3.8 GT3RS and a GT3RS 4.0 closed unsold yesterday without a single bid on EBay:

I'll let you know if I have any regrets selling my RS for a 991 when I eventually get mine. Personally, I think the Orange 997.1 RS is the best looking car, possibly ever, that Porsche has produced. Then again, I'm biased.
Not sure we can take those Ebay listings as any sign of the times, those were pretty ridiculous numbers- at least on the 3.8. I'm guessing the GT3/RS market starts slowing down right now due to the time of the year. The Northerners don't want to buy a car and look at it sitting in their garage for 5-6 mos.

Perhaps not, but IMO, the actual bids are more reflective of actual selling prices and the number of (real) bids reflective of the actual popularity than the "Asking Prices" on popular sites such as Autotrader and Cars.com. Interestingly, the last EBay bid I followed on a 991 GT3RS had a large number of bids, the last one being $310,000 and that was turned down by the Seller. Having followed Porsche pricing for many years, it has always been that market prices are inversely proportional to the number of cars produced (availability) as well as the superiority and desirability of the model.

Thanks Fella's
Interesting responses. About how I felt it would go. I can assure you I am very aware of each cars strong points. First of all, I am super happy with my 991 GT3. Zero complaints and it's better in EVERY way from the 997 GT3's I have driven. I'm not hung up on the manual thing as I enjoy using the PDK very much and after 30 years of three pedal cars it's a hoot. That said, there is a certain je ne sais quoi about a 997 RS that the 991 will never have in my IMO.

Correct! And there is the rub. Many of you have had multiple gens of these GT cars and know what you like and dislike. I haven't sat in or driven a 997RS. Combine that with the visual appeal of the 997RS and you have my conundrum...

Personally, the cosmetics alone of the RS justified the uplift for me when I was looking at GT3 vs RS. Not to mention they will hold their value better if that is a consideration. The hips and the skittles color was a winner.
From a driving perspective, I haven't spent a lot of time in a 991 but I can tell you that the 997RS is much less refined. It's a rough, stiff ride. It's noisy in a great way- the clank of the LWFW, minimal sound deadening and the exhaust note is great. You feel like you're driving a race car on the street. My .02.
