My opinion differs just replaced the left rear tire picked up a bolt that damaged the tire. Took it to the dealer, and total tire replacement cost was 600.00 and some change. I paid zero, and the insurance cost me 1200.00 for 60 months. I know I will have another tire damage in 4 years so it works for me. So far I have never used my house nor car insurance on four cars so all depends on how you look at it. Good luck.
I paid $2000 as well. While it seemed pricey, I find that I get nails in my tires all too frequently, and Porsche will replace (not repair) the tire in that situation so I will get something out of it. In hindsight, I probably won't get my $2000 worth unless I do something really dumb and destroy a wheel.
^^^ Agree ... and this insurance won't cover on-track incurred damage.
My tire was damaged on the track they never asked how it happened. Actually I told them at service times and no issues. I guess it depends on your local dealer, and my cost was 1200 for 60 months.
I bought wheel insurance on my Cayenne, tried to use it and the dealer claimed it wasn't the kind of wheel damage covered by the insurance. Total scam, imo.
I live in a very pothole and construction site friendly part of NJ. While I try my best to avoid them I am a victim of the occasional flat or bubble. On my 991S over 3 years of ownership I have 3 bubbles and 2 nails (no bent rims). I paid 1600 for the rim and tire which paid off at the average cost of 400 to 450 per tire installed I came out a winner. I don't plan on driving the GT3 as much but you never know....
