Matt, nice house. Are you keeping the bush hog that I see in the garage? For 5.5 acres a riding mower is not nearly enough! Bush hog it is.

Funny, just saw the exact house (above) on Good Morning America this morning!
It's quite clear that SF has the most expensive real-estate.

Regardless, congrats Matt.
Look forward to that one day where i see your (future) post with another GT3 variant.

You know what's so awesome about this? SF and its financial elite bull$hit the public and DC into believing that they lead the "income inequality" march! The truth is that paying a rookie programmer $200K/ yr. have led to this. No real value of money, kind of like Dubai! I'll stop now...

Beautiful house, and congratulations. You will have another GT3 soon. It amazes me how much house you can get in Florida for a "reasonable" price. Your new house is certainly not cheap, but very good value compared to other parts of the country.

Starting for programmers is $80k.. And the housing prices have to do with pure supply and demand. Dubai has a completely different issue related to developer-debt influenced construction, supply is abundant, quite unrelated, in fact, about as distinct of a real estate market model as possible. Not sure about the rest of that angst.

Matt, I've been in real estate for 20 years (yeowch!) and you are absolutely making the right choice. You don't need us to tell you that, though. Your thinking on your current house is 100% correct. If it was enough for you as is, then no need to change. But being the biggest house in the neighborhood is never good. Additions are rarely a 100% return unless there was something wrong with the original and you paid as such (I.e. Horrible kitchen). Adding basements and garages is guaranteed to leave you with less than 50% return, if not less. I also am close enough to you in mind to know that your long con is to use this as an excuse to get out of your 5 year no car contract and into an RS sooner. Good luck. A dream house will bring you far more daily enjoyment than a dream car for sure!
