We have two crossing points here from regulators

1 Mpg, emissions costrains for the engine design

2 Safety costrains for the car weight design

exotic materials or i.e. specific gearbox for motorsport models
would help a lot on reducing weight while keeping safety high

but vs price costs

so i think too a 4.4 L might be challenging
but less than using exotic materials

afterall Ruf is already 4.2L 525HP 500Nm today

Let's be real - we're going to buy the next GTx no matter what the powertrain configuration.

What I would like to see is a flat-8 with 550 hp.

What I expect to see is a high-strung, torque-less, 3.0 flat-6 with 9k redline, 133hp/liter (400hp) and a 150hp electric motor mounted in between the engine and transmission, for a total output of 550hp.

The next GT3 must be NA. No F'n way should it have a hair drier blowing on it. Throttle response like walking on the edge of a razor blade.

Flat 8? If ever i would buy one for sure but the only
8 they have is V8 from 918

Anyway more than 50 years 911 produced so far there are a lot
out there
Not so addicted to get any new bull**** by force
a lot to buy on Used market or custom like Singer or Ruf

Given this mornings announcement of VW cutting all non-essential R&D I would suspect the GT program will be cut pretty heavily. Looks more likely to me that they just drop the new TT/TTS power unit in the GT3/GT3 RS and call them GT2s...

I hope you're wrong, but I'm actually a bit worried as well.

My guess is that the GT3 gets the RS motor. The RS gets an upgraded RS motor or upgraded TT motor.

Depends how top management view
the motorsport
1 useless cost cause a super ego
company might think to be autosufficient and
all around marketing

2 strategic to keep the brand attracting new buyers for the base models

it s for the 2 that i insist the RLister should pay less
as they are effectively contributors for keeping
brand attraction high! j/k

If the hybrid is anything (and a lot more affordable) like the 918, it'll be a no brainer for me.

Wow

We are close to 150 Porsche' motorsport enthusiasts and most of them real owners/buyers!

Votes are statistically solid and consistent

pointing to a raw pure flat 6 at its best to balance against current 9a1
easy feasibility , no increased weight , fun on roads and tracks

so immediatly pluggable into a 991.2 GT3

Let s show the power of this forum and send a postcard to PAG management

I didn't vote. But I am very surprised at the displacement numbers people prefer, albeit in a restricted poll context.

A GT Porsche means high revving and reliable. These larger displacements will not be able to rev very high. These displacements are one foot on the American muscle car road and one foot on the BMW M road.

Once people stop identifying themselves with speed and power of their automobiles and identify with more sensible numbers such as personal best track times with difficult to drive cars, we can see the end if the HP wars.
