2018 Porsche GT3 with manual

Manual for me, no question. Turbos are almost transparent with lag practically nonexistent. I can't imagine giving up the visceral feel of being directly connected to the car by controlling the bite of the clutch. It's worth the occasional crunch or stall to me. Flappy paddles are still automatic, and no matter how well they work, it takes me out of the gear selection process.

Lag only seems to be nonexistent in a turbo if you're spending all that extra time shifting....
I've never driven a turbo car including modern >200K sports cars that didn't have clear and clearly annoying turbo lag.

Couple of points
PDK= automated manual ie normal clutch or multiples of.
Automatic= slush box and torque converter.
Lack of use of left foot= many millions drive this way happliy and by choice/preference every day especially in the US where the manual option is rarely ticked or even available, driving licenses even excluded manual unless trained to drive 'stick'.
Automated braking= its here, there are many cars that have 'crash avoidance' braking systems as standard.

Porsche will still make Manuals but it will soon be an upcharge. Expect to see the next iteration of Gt3 with a Manual option or a limited new model - will be NA

People will accept any change. Porsche drug is too strong. Porsche delivers drug and we take. Then PDK becomes manual, electric steering is great and RWS...what is RWS anyway? Ah,it doesn't matter,we'll take it! Turbo no lag. It's great!

Op, have you driven one? I've always been a die hard manual guy, and still have two 911 with manual transmission. The most exciting car to drive is by far the GT3. That said, I'm sure a manual GT3 would be a blast.
The issue though maybe a manual isn't best suited for this engine. It revs so quickly, I could see hitting the rev limiter pretty easily, and where the hell would I put my latte?

I think PDK is wonderful. It is very involving and certainly more practical to hit Starbucks. But, no matter what any one says I am going back to a Manual and I want a NA Engine. I just think 3 pedals is an art and it is fun to try to perfect .
I am waiting for the next Porsche NA with a manual. Praying a GT3 but maybe this so called 911R

If it doesn't have a clutch pedal it's not a manual. PDK != automatic is semantics
As fun as the GT3 is it would be more fun for me if they made a proper manual option

So all you people that are in favor of a PDK, don't mind your left foot doing nothing while driving? To me this is one small step in the direction of self driving cars. whats the next step? automated braking? Then we would be down to two pedals and 30% less driver involvement. But hey, its faster and thats all that matters, right? I would take turbo with manual box over n/a with PDK. A true sports car should have 3 pedals. It is also somewhat insulting that Porsche has abandoned the "lets give the public the race stuff" these days. If this was the case (as it used to be), we should get a semi-sequential box, just like the GT3 cup cars, but streetable. Sort of a PDK with a clutch pedal that could be switched into use or switched off, but at least you could simulate being in a true race car. Cup cars have 3 pedals, are we only capable of operating 2?
