Default Gearbox Failure

Gearbox went out today just driving around town. Lost all odd numbered gears and limped home. It all started with 1st gear not engaging at a stop light. Feathered the gas a little and the car jerked into gear. Restarting the car didn't help. It sounds like this is just a start to a whole new issue. There are similar threads on this topic resulting in replacement of the TM. I will talk to the dealer tomorrow to see what happens next. I have a 2015 with a build date of mid November 2014. Will let you guys know what happens.

Default Gearbox Failure

Your build date is similar to mine. To date I've had no PDK issues. Close to 7000 miles.

I just passed 2k miles on mine. There were no symptoms up to this failure so that's a bit concerning.

Its not the first time this is happening, I believe there is another post somewhere on this forum.. Hopefully you won't need a new gearbox.

sounds like a broken shift fork. wouldn't be surprised if they replace the tranny.

Thanks for the link. I did read that thread and I'm preparing for the worst.
Just wanted to bring this up as another occurrence in case others experience the same issue. Car getting towed to dealer later this week.

Yes, good idea to set expectations low. Personally, outside of the time lost for
repair, a brand new free tranny is a pretty good thing. Just curious, did you track your car? Drive it like you stole it? Or did you take it easy and not launch
control a bunch and not red line it?
I may be alone here, but I figure if this stuff is going to break, might as well
get it done under warranty. And this car begs to be driven hard and often.
No garage queen for me.

More likely to be a faulty part or quality control issue rather than wear and tear

Porsche can make a gearbox for the turbo that can handle 50 launches in a row no sweat. Making one for a relatively torque-less gt3 should be a walk in the park.

I'm with Rob. Not a fan of letting the car sit. I'm on track to log 10,000 mi. in the first year. It will be sorted and worth less when I sell it. However, as I get older my time and smiles are worth far more than a low mileage GT3.

Unfortunately this is not the first transmission occurrence I've heard about. A few guys at the track were complaining about this a few months back. Hopefully it all gets sorted out...and I look to see some refinements from Porsche in the 991.2 GT3.

10,000 miles in 7 months. No issues with the PDK. 95% exuberant twisties fun, though only one track day. Knock on wood. Hopefully isolated occurrences.

Haven't tracked or haven't held back either. I get a feeling this is occurring regardless of how and how often you drive. It's a either a bad part or bad engineering (or both), who knows.

At least we all have the same TM so we don't have to hear from the 6MT lovers just waiting to flame on this topic. In any case, knock on wood and cross your fingers before you start the car. It's like roulette, you either lose the odd or even number gears but you don't get to choose which one. If you loose your even number gears, I believe you lose reverse as well.
