Anyone Replace Front Rotors on their 991 GT3?
Well, after 9 track days and about 4,800 miles I learned today, during a tech inspection for upcoming HPDE, that my front rotors need to be replaced. This seemed awfully soon. Anyone else experience this?
I do run in advanced groups and speeds are building, but in 997.2GT3 with Ceramics of all things, after 2 years of DEs those rotors still had life in them. Wondering now if this is the new norm. Every 5,000 or so miles and 9 DE-days I'll need to replace rotors.
So, good news is rears have plenty of life which I equate to nannies not having to kick in, but that's just a thought.
Any other insights to my driving (?) that created this front rotor wear?
Thanks in advance for your input.

I think there are number of us that have already gone through a set of front rotors. Mine lasted about 15 track days. Probably could've squeezed one or two more days out of them. I replaced the stock rotors with AP racing rotors. Haven't tried them on the track yet, but expecting they will last a bit longer

Can you post pics of your rotors? 9 track days seems a bit early. I had about 10 days on my OEM rotors before I pulled them off and they still looked perfectly fine. They looked like this:
Many of us are using AP rotors to replace OEMs. They weigh the same, but they are 2 piece and the rings can be replaced for much cheaper than OEM rotors.

I know, Sean, right? Was I that hard on them at Smokies?
Let me see if I can get the wear thickness and also post some pics for additional input. Thanks!

agreed with others here, that seems a little premature . my car at 16 track days and 9k on the meter
fronts have thickness left but cracks 1/4 to 1/2 inch from edge of drilled vent holes , that's normal
and tolerable till they reach outer edge and face no longer flush , presently on second set of pads
PFC up front and third in rear as one outer left rear PFC disintegrated( after four days) went back with oem rears. Not thrilled with that given the expense of the PFC 11's . May try the Pagid next.
You may want another shop to check it out if you are uncertain yourself of rotor condition
BTW your RY looks really sharp with your stripes
I think mine are good for another 6 track hours or two days yet .

Interested to see your photos and thickness measurements but they are likely to be toast more so for crack length than thickness. The OEM steels on my 997.2 managed 1600km track and total of about 6000km before they were toast. They had hardly lost any thickness but cracks were >10mm long... Factory spec for replacement was 7mm cracks for the 997.2s...

Here are a few pics, sorry for not so great quality. Embarrassed to say I do not have a measure thickness so cannot supply that info. The first two pics are from front right and the next three from front left. I see very small cracks in a few places, but overall looks pretty good to this novice's (from mechanical perspective) eyes.
Thoughts? I plan on challenging the SA at Porsche about this on Monday. I do trust them and they've done good by me over the years, but if I am going to be replacing rotors every 9 track days, this boy is going to learn to become a mechanic real quick.
