Parking Brake Failure

I had the door open parking brake issue. Pretty embarrassing when you're tying to pull away from a parking spot.

I just went through this in my Cayenne. It took four trips to the dealer before we finally got the problem solved. New Parking Brake computer solved the problem.

I had this issue come up this weekend at VIR in my 991.2 GT3 RS. During a session later in the first day, the failure message came up. Upon shutting off car, the E-Brake automatically engaged without my input. I could then intermittently release it. When I left car at the track at end of the first day, the E-Brake was not engaged. In the morning on the second day, the E-brake was engaged and could not be turned off. I was able to find a gentleman that had a GT4 Clubsport and we hooked up the PWIS and cleared the faults and disengaged the brake. I left the car running all day and ran my sessions no issues. At end of the day, put the car into the trailer and shut it off and the e-brake engaged by itself.
At the dealer, had to hookup the PWIS and manually release the E-Brake as the pull switch would not function or illuminate at all.
Upon inspection, the cause of the issue was that the connector at the E-Brake switch was loose and became disconnected. Guess those rumble strips in the uphill Esses took their toll. During production, they must have done a "Push" and not a "Push/Pull". Simple fix, really.

I had the same issues as everyone in this post with the same fault popping up. It would intermittently come on and off and would eventually go away. I got annoyed at the problem as it was happening eventually everyday.
Brought the car in for service at Porsche and they figured out it was a faulty ebrake actuator. Luckily my car was in warranty and I got the problem fixed without paying anything.
Hope this helps someone with the same problem

Had this happen last June, first time when I finished driving my car home from the dealership after an engine replacement. Tech blamed it on aftermarket pads, 'rotors show signs of high heat.' My awesome SA pointed out that this was the 3rd or 4th set of non-OEM pads, and why now? Crickets, and they fixed it for nada.
