Braking may surprise you since the Mac is much lighter. I think it would be superior actually.

I love these Comparo's- Mac has 666 Horsies to the RS's almost 500 horsies according to the British form of accounting! What's the point of a 166 delta in horsepower? Besides it almost seems like they were sand-bagging the Porsche. Those number's seem too slow!

675 may or may not be different but I have a friend with both a 650 and a GT3, and he found the GT3 brakes to be significantly superior to the Mclaren.

You are likely talking about the track? hard to believe it isn't stellar 100-0. I would like to see some instrumented tests because there is just a lot of bias here obviously and stories from friends are quite common and really don't mean a lot to me but thanks. I doubt people here give a lot of credit to other cars because I just don't see it repeatedly.

Mac has way more torque and a way bigger torque curve due to the forced induction. That means a lot.

Same could be said for 0-100, but we all know which one would handily dominate the acceleration contests to any speed despite the smaller tire size.

I think that between the fancy suspension, and the smaller tire sizes and the tight monocoque, these factors make it a great street car you can use every day

I have an rs on order, and i also own a 12c. On a big track, the rs will have no chance staying with the 675( drivers being equal.) But then again the 675 is about 200,000 more.

No, but I've put 10k miles on my MP4-12c, and its one hell of a starting point and an incredible achievement for a first mass production car! Can't imagine what 4 years of additional development and a track focus would produce.

Sutcliff is now at Auto Express. Agree, he is good and left a big hole...

I really like the 675LT, much better looking butt than the other Macs IMHO

It sure does mean a lot, torque that is - it's what made the Buick Grand National so fast for it's time. How could a V6 (turbo) beat a 5 point 0 Mustang in a race? Besides gearing it's torque!

But what irks me is how much more power the McLaren has over the GT3RS. Yet the Porsche seems to do very well still regardless of the power gaps.

How do they figure out which car's to compare? For car & driver it was proximity of price. But Comparing an older 997.1 base vs an M3 is not fare.

I really hope these kind of comparisons don't make it very difficult for Porsche in the long term. F/I is always going to give a leg up in the HP wars which would make Porsche's GT N/A HP figures look bad to the magazine tech spec racers. I know there have been interviews by AP saying that GT cars will always be N/A, but technological advancements really help the HP wars because F/I car owners can brag about their cars tech specs AND keep it in check w/ use of nannies (e.g., C7 Z06 noob HPDE vid). Look at this thread and others like it where a lot of RLs turn to those HP & tourqe numbers. Can the flat 6 keep up with this long term?

Second point, what happens when the combo of F/I and electronics surpass Porsche's amazing ability to be the David to those high HP Goliaths? I mean, Porsche has already been pressured to go PDK-S and RWS to keep itself level with the competition. What happens when the 488 version of the CS/Scud/Speciale is released? Has the 675LT begun to put some writing on the wall? The future direction of the 911 GT models will be interesting to say the least.
