I like the look but how they came to calling it Pepita, Spanish for Pumpkin Seed, is beyond me!

Pepita has been used to describe this houndstooth pattern upholstery on the old Porsche COAs and sample swatches since the '60s, and it has confused a lot of people. While Porsche has often appropriated foreign language words such as "Carrera" and "Cayenne," it may be that this was not derived from the Spanish word for "pumpkin seed."

In one German/English dictionary I found online, "pepita" translates as "shepherd('s) check or plaid"
http://dictionary.reverso.net/german-english/Pepita

In another, it translates as "pane; diamond"
http://www.interglot.com/dictionary/...anslate/Pepita

Who knows? Some German familiar with the textile industry could probably tell us.

Hi Tom, the LWB seats with Pepita cloth look absolutely amazing !
Re the "gold" in the wool: maybe it's a little consolation to know what Porsche Exclusive would ask for the job.....don't ask me how I know...
I had exactly the same idea for my Boxster Spyder on order (October built) and they asked 4'500 EURO + VAT (currently 19% in Germany)... and then I had doubts whether the CF buckets would suit the old style Pepita. Now after seeing the pics I have no doubts anymore regarding the style (super cool!), but the doubts re the gold remain :-) Obviously it's not a difficult job from a handscraft point of view, hence I may consider to add this eyecandy after taking delivery of the Spyder (but then just without the "gold premium"). Enjoy your beautiful beast :-)

I'd do the plaid inserts in a heartbeat, but for two things:
1. Extreme Southwest heat: not comfortable.
2. Wife would leave me: Even LESS comfortable.

I'm totally digging them. It would be cool to add something else retro but what.

Some nice detail there Tom,

I thought I'd introduce myself as I've had a few enquires since Tom posted my details above.

I've been Posche trimming in the Uk for some time and wanted to obtain a period correct peptia "houndstooth" material as the ones I'd used from suppliers were never quite right.

Unfortunately The last run sold rather rapidly, but the good news is a new run wil be in stock in 3-4 weeks.

Just drop me a mail if your need any from the next run

Best

Garry

Great look! I also love what Singer has done with some of their cars.

I hope the 911R gets some pepita love too.
