Who cares for a collector
as the 997.2 RS 4.0 is the last RS NA Manual
the 991.1GT3 is the only revving to 9k rpm
Engine wise 991 is more reliable
Warranty wise affected cars will be fixed for free
under or not under warranty

Seriously though, do we have more than three confirmed failures in 3000 plus units? I wouldn't worry too much, especially since everyone is under warranty. If there is a massive defect a recall will be made. Otherwise carry on to 9000 rpm so we can flush them out.

Exactly. BTW, I just had mine at the dealership 10 days ago, an there was only a bulletin regarding some lift fix....nothing else.

Actually, MileHigh, an interesting question.....

Heading home from Malaysia back to Scotland to bounce mine off the rev limiter in the smug knowledge the proper run in including early service was the order of the day. Now no worries, heat it up and tank it. Small problem of jail time might be an issue

Three Wheelin'
It's pretty clear that those who never did or will accept/approve/admire the 991 GT3 will seize upon any circumstance to validate their POV. Personally, as a non track focused owner, the GT3 has proved to be an enormously rewarding car to drive, the most special of all the modern Porsches I've owned. I expect teething issues with both the engine and gearbox given the newness and performance level of the technology. I also believe that Porsche has done all and more to support the customer base. It would be interesting indeed to transport some of the membership back to the 1970s "halcyon years" when Porsche had a 12mo/12K mile warranty and PCNA was nothing more than a branch of VWoA. When the case studs leaked oil and the airbox blew up there was no new engine waiting in the wings.

I actually had the opposite thought. Because most of the 1GT3s haven't really been driven much (at least judging from how many low-mile 1GT3s have been offered for sale), what additional problems might surface as time passes and these cars are driven more/harder? Not something I'm going to worry about, but this did cross my mind when I first read the article.

The sky isn't falling, just drive the car, maintain it properly, and assume the car is fine until you have real evidence to the contrary. There are other things to worry about besides the unlikely possibility that your precious GT3 will blow up unexpectedly.
