It will probably fit fine - but for the money they'll likely charge I would get the Akra slip on for about $4,500.

My guess is that it will fit, but aftermarket would be better bang for the buck.

I am wondering how long the exhaust will last on my coming RS.
I plan to do side muffler delete.

If titanium and track use. Not long. Seen many Texas sized holes in the titanium mufflers from the 997 and the 991 gt3 setup is near identical.

I know it seems almost heretical on this forum , but isn't there just the slightest of possibilities that the company with the technology to win Le Mans might have created a better exhaust for its flagship 911 than the aftermarket?

I'm certain they could, but they don't due to dB restrictions and emissions rules.

I agree that if the aftermarket is going to give you headers and free flow cats there's going to be a performance increase. Here in Cali land, though, only aftermarket cat backs will pass the emissions police. I'm not convinced I'll be able to get an aftermarket catback better than an RS switch, if I'm in the camp who'd like a little more noise, don't want to give up even a minimum amount of performance and, oh yeah, don't like drone. I guess we'll see, at some point.

Akra made the last RS exhaust for Porsche - it will probably be the same this time around. I can't comment on the CA regs but a dealer will be able to confirm. Here is their aftermarket version which was slightly improved vs the Porsche OEM version.

997 RS Version

991 GT3 Version
http://www.akrapovic.com/#!/car/prod...60&yearId=3864

They're exactly the same item, which you'll notice by the part number MTP-PO997GT3H - but it gives the difference in performance on each.

The full Akra race or evo systems for the 991 GT3 are, unfortunately, not CARB compliant from what I know.

Doesn't mean there aren't ways around it. But at least out of the box, they are not apparently.

This ^^^^....why is it so hard for you enthusiast to understand, they are not allowed produce every single part for the best optimum race performance...These are street legal road cars, that meet street legal requirements...

Sorry, I just don't buy that Porsche doesn't also have the technology to build the best street legal system also...if it chooses to do so.

Akra did not do the complete exhaust for the Gen 2 RS 997, only the centre section. You can see the Akra name on it.
