AP said probably no GT2 as the new RS is hardcore enough, but there will be a GT2 RS. From a March Autocar interview: "Preuninger confirmed that a new GT2 RS would be built but said it would not be for the existing series of the 911. Instead, it will come at the end of the life of the Gen 2 car, probably in 2018."

Why don't you just give me a special "Tony Allocation" and then I can ditch the RS hunt...

Marketing? Things seem more desirable the harder they are to get?
How many would they have to make to satisfy 100% of demand? Estimates? A 25-50% increase?
I think the strategy is to not be able to fulfill 100% of demand by design.

then how do they make money? if too few allocations we jump ship, perhaps you buy another marque and they lose you as customer, i think more allocations will come

Delicate balance. As I look at the signatures of many on rennlist and see decades of Porsche ownership, who cannot get an allocation, makes me think that Porsche is not in the "sweet spot" in maintaining hype/demand but keeping loyal Porsche customers happy who want to give $200k for an RS. The other unintended consequence is pushing more and more buyers to the pre-owned market. One of the complaints of PAG/PCNA has been that many high net wealth, deep pocket buyers, stay in the pre owned market and don't buy new. They still spend big money, sometimes on multiple Porsches. Well, these shenanigans are going to pronounce that effect.
All of a sudden I feel like the nerd at prom explaining the rationale for not getting a hot date. Bottom line, don't want to be that kid. Never have been

I'm quite sure they will build more cars than what have been released to date. I don't think anyone has a build date past December and I think everyone generally agrees that they will build into 2016 even if the car is a one model year only. Perhaps later in July or early August they will release the first quarter 2016 builds?
