How many miles needed to track/DE
I know this is a loaded question, but I would like to get my GT3 out at Grattan in August to do a DE event. Currently the car has 400 miles on it. Is there any fast and furious amount of miles before the car should see any track time. Also, let's say I can get 1000 miles on the car before then. Should I change the oil before/after the event. I just want to be ultra conservative.

I think 1,000 miles of break-in and an oil change would qualify for being conservative - you'll be in good shape!

I had 800 miles on when I did first event. Checked but didn't change the oil beforehand. Had 3 green bars before and 2 bars afterwards. I was at Thunderhill with 100F + temps and drove home afterwards (2 hours) and car never even flinched. Stud of a car!!

Mike in CA on the page linked below has some very good common sense advice, as usual.

Ultimately though, the decision is yours.
I think one thing that is fairly uncontroversial is that there is no magic number - or hard line of mileage/kilometer demarcation - when it comes to break-in.
Whether you choose 1 or 2000 miles, it's really your decision.
Your car, your decision.
Hard to see it damaging the car significantly one way or the other.

It makes me feel better always warming up /cooling down the car carefully and gently, changing the oil after the first track weekend and every 3 weekends there after.
3 warm ups and cool downs is break in.
