Awesome!
Thanks Rob! You would think there would be an end to the crazy, but I keep finding ways.

Matt, did you by any chance decipher what the low level output signals are in terms of the colors of the wires? I am trying to hook the RCAs to the low level outputs for inputing into Mosconi DSP. I am having trouble figuring out what's what using my multimeter.

Edit: I figured it out. I had to use the AC setting on my multimeter.
Would you mind confirming to see if it matches with what you have?

Right front: +brown/white and -red/white
Left front: +yellow/brown and -blue/white
Right rear: -Yellow and +brown/blue
Left rear: +grey and -red/grey
*excuse my color blindness*

Edit again: I will have a brain infract with this AC circuit. I am coming up with a different polarity now. I guess it does not matter since it is low voltage AC, but I have changed the above to what I will be using.

I'm pretty sure that's the right. I'm pulling from my memory.

Wow.

I too have a long history in auto and home audio. in fact, i helped design a tune a car that won its sound Q+ event at daytona winter nationals.

i have not done anything to the sounds systems in my cars for a while but think about it every time i buy one. as a result i almost always only opt for the mid level system offered from the factory.

i would love to do the exact system you have done. (im in the oil business so maybe now isnt the best time!)

I envy your garae and your car!

Great job and as always fantastic write up!

Being new to this stuff I am a little confused in terminology - Is "low level outputs" the same as "line level" for input to the DSP ?

Did these colours turn out to be correct ?

Thanks for your help

Fantastic job and I agree about the importance of tuning the system. I would also pay someone to do it - mostly because I'm an **** audiophile who would end up constantly making adjustments if I tried it myself. I still obsess about 1/2" incremental positioning of speakers in my listening room. If I didn't think I would inevitably damage the leather or trim I would consider doing this when I get my car.

I must say I have found your stereo upgrade project inspiring, and really appreciate the time and effort in putting together the detail in this post.

I do like the choice of the DynAudio speakers and the Mosconi.

Even with the almost step by step detail I think it's outside my comfort level and a local car audio shop will provide the labour .

In trying to learn from your design approach, I would like to understand the reasoning for some of your choices, for the planning of my own upgrade and would appreciate your views.

My questions are:

Why did you select a two way system rather than retaining the 3" mid range in the doors in a 3 way system ?

EG: selecting the DynAudio Esotec 242 System (2-way system with 6” woofer and 1” silk dome tweeter) rather than 342 series (3-way system with 6” woofer, 3" mid and 1” silk dome tweeter)

Did you consider using the larger DynAudio Esotec MW172 8" woofer rather than the 6", or more specifically the Esotec 362 series (3-way system with 8” woofer, 3" mid and 1” silk dome tweeter) ?

As you had the Mosconi DSP 6 to 8 V8 with all the DSP features, did you consider driving the speaker in an active mode rather than using the Cross Overs ?

Did you consider using the Mosconi D2 80.6 DSP as an alternative, that has the integrated DSP and 4 channel amp @ 80w /channel instead of the Genesis amp ? ..... would that have been a reasonable option ?

You mentioned in one of the video's you had an grounding problem that held you up, what did you do to resolve it ?

What is the overall thickness of the Sub enclosure, has the loss of this leg room in the passenger foot well proved to be inconvenient ?

I don't pretend to understand the first thing about sub design, but logically as it doesn't seem that there is a grill at the front and the sub driver is facing the carpet, how does the sound get out ..... am I missing something here ?

Sorry for so many questions
