Default Z06 vs 991 GT3: Hope this is no one here

I'm not sure what's worse: the driving, the "coaching" or an organizer that allows this type of behavior. Please help identify the organizer so I can make sure I never drive with them.

I only watched 4 minutes if something better happens at the end. I don't get what is up with the hand gesturing passenger?

Yeah, its pretty sad and I'm glad YT commentators tore him a new one

It's either Speed Ventures or Extremespeed...I think they are the only two groups that run Autoclub.

FWIW, I ran Auto Club with Speed Ventures and it was a well run event...

I saw that GT3 at a Speed District event at Buttonwillow. I'm curious if he's seen the video and what his reaction was...

That was painful to watch. D-baggery extraordinaire.

I'm impressed with the pace of the 991 after watching that video. That or the heatsoak in the Z is that bad...

Im no "pro driver" with a "race team" but from my casual observation the 991 GT3 lines were ragged. Its not like its a technical track. Looks more like a gymkhana in the middle of an oval track to my uninitiated eyes!

Its also really curious to me how in North America you are told to keep your windows down but can drive in a hoodie with a non Snell/FIA standard helmet. My pizza boy has a more substantial helmet for his delivery bicycle than that driver in the Vette (here we have to wear suit, current standard helmet but encouraged to keep windows up if possible). If the bloke in the passenger seat of the Z06 is an instructor he should have his license revoked IMO.

Interesting stuff.

Being a newbie to the race scene, can someone explain exactly what was being done wrong in that video (I only watched about 4 minutes, maybe the "bad stuff" is later?)

Thanks,

Jeff

Default Famous Z06 driver

The GT3 in this video is not me, but I know the driver. He's not a pro driver, as claimed by the moron who posted the video. The GT3 driver is a pretty good driver, although new rear engine cars. The idiot in the Z 06 spun out in front of me going into the playground in an earlier session. He was sent home by Aaron of Speed Ventures after the session on the video. Not sure why he wasn't black flagged during it thou, he was an absolute tool. He would come by the garage after the session and brag how he only had two previous days at the track. He seemed to have serious psychiatric issues. This is the first time I have experienced someone like this at a Speed Ventures event.
The whole video is comical if it was not so dangerous. I slowed and pulled to the side every time he approached, something my friend regretted not doing.

The Z06 with the nannies on is a pretty spectacular car, it saved this guys life at least 10 times. The only problem: over heating. The temps were in the low 90s and the Z 06 did not like it. The car went into limp mode after a few laps. I ran in two run groups, driving a total of 76 laps (2.7 miles) so over 200 miles and my GT3 did not flinch. Freaking bullet proof.

For starters he's applying FULL throttle in the middle of turns. If he did not have traction control and other nannies he would spin 720 degrees! Several times the engine and brakes essentially brings the car to a complete stop because of his poor choice of throttle input in relation to steering angle.

He also violates about every rule of responsible track etiquette, repeately cutting people off. This is a HPDE event NOT a race. It was a miracle there were no accidents, a testament to the other drivers.

Painful to watch, in several respects.

Whoever it was on YouTube who commented "congratulations, you won a DE" made me LOL.

Dan (learned more on one track day with GMG than this idiot likely ever will)
