p.s. Both the Corvette and GT3 drivers were HORRIBLE. Say what you want but their lines tell otherwise.
My observations:
1. The only criticism I have of the GT3 driver is that he didn't allow the Z06 to pass him as soon as the clearly inexperienced Z06 driver initially pulled up to him. Inexperienced and cocky is a dangerous combination.
2. Amazing how some people believe that a DE event is a race event. Fortunately these people are in the minority, but when I encounter them I immediately allow them to pass me.
3. Technology is both a blessing and a curse. When I began racing in 1967 you had to develop many skill sets which are no longer required. Back then even basic things like braking took a long time to master: ABS was decades away. So by necessity most of us back then began in low HP cars and worked our way up as our skills improved. My first SCCA race for example was in a 100 HP Triumph GT6. None of us rookies had illusions that we were ready for a 1000 HP Can-AM car.
4. Maybe the scariest take-away is that I expect that the Z06 driver believes that he's a skilled driver. It would be entertaining to see how long he would survive in a 435 HP 1968 vintage Vette. If he were lucky he would lock up his wheels as he braked in the first turn and slide off the track before he built up speeds sufficient enough were injury or even death were possible.
5. My last criticism is for the "instructor." If just in the interests of his own self preservation, he should have directed the diver to pull off the track and go back to the classroom, assuming the driver was ever in the classroom.
