Default 100 DEGREE TEMPS.

Is it alright to run the car in high 90's- 100 degree temps. I had my oil and filter changed at the dealer and 3 days later I got stuck in some stop and go traffic and the engine oil overfill warning came on. After approximately 250 miles the warning message went away. I feel the excessive heat and 5MPH traffic caused the warning message. Any thoughts?

the oil measuring is very sensitive....and somewhat elusive to nail correctly. Do a search and be ready to wonder why there is no dipstick. Bottom line....better to have it 2 bars below max. The measure amount has changed as much a 3 bars for some......for no reason

If using the GT3 in 100 degree heat is a no no then I wouldn't be able to drive for the next 3 months. No worries, just drive.

Same here. Should be over 100 for the next few months or so.

If that was excessive heat, then we're all in trouble. Rest easy. These cars are extremely durable. Watch the ambient temp readings in the center gauge.

The highest the coolant temps got in these conditions was 212F, and Max oil temp was 243F. If the car can hold up to this, it can handle idling in traffic.

Feel free to beat on it in 100F weather, or higher.

Then when you're tired, rest, gas up, and repeat until you run out of money for gas, or tires. Whichever comes first.

This isn't a C7 Z06 after all.

Quick question and sorry if i am high jacking this thread. But, what is the typical temp for the oil if you run it hard in hot weather before one should be concerned - 250F?, 260?, ??

Don't worry, the car will cut you off if it gets too hot. The C4S cuts off at 288. Doubt the GT3 will EVER see that temp, well cooled.

I think orthojoe mentioned it in another thread but with 113 ambient temps, he was seeing 240ish oil temps. Joe isn't exactly a track noob either

Short answer : YES

Oil fill issue root cause shouldn't be related to ambient temps

To put your mind at ease...Its around 116 F here in Kuwait and expected to exceed 120 F soon. At 116 my car runs fine.

I'd change out the oil more often with higher ambient temps and oil temperatures. If you are using Mobil 1 0W40 it is cheap at Walmart.
