Question What is your trick to remove that tire crap?

Folks,

What are you using to remove tire marks on the car?

3M covered sections are the worst...

Please share your tips/products?

Mother's R3 usually works but sometimes the marks are really stubborn if they sit for a while.

I agree that Mothers R3 is a good product and I use it too. However, rubber scuffs from autocross cones or other sources that R3 removes easily from paint can be a major PITA to remove from the vinyl shield that the OP shows in his pic. I've taken to taping those sections with racers tape because it takes far less time to apply to the tape than to remove the marks after the fact. Otherwise a fairly aggressive polish and a lot of time with a buffer can be required to get out some stubborn marks.

Meguiars 6 cleaner wax takes them right off film or paint. As an added bonus, the wax layer reduces the adhesion of the next set of marks you get, so they come off even more easily

I also use the Mothers R3 product which works well on the paint but on the clear protection plastic I use Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover. It sprays on as a foam that stays & soaks on the marks whereas the 3M runs off vertical surfaces before it has a chance to soak in.

I have used R3 on the factory rear guard protection clear film. it works ok but less so if the rubber is left on for a few days as is typical when you are doing an out of town multi day track event. I found eventually you leave alot of fine rubbing "scars" on teh clear film in the places you have rubbed it off an it looks ugly.

The answer to this problem for me was not to have the car covered in clear film (it costs alot, goes yellow ith age very quickly in our NZ high UV sun, gets soft and pitted with chemicals and time and is very difficult to clean tire marble marks from). For the rear guards I decided to use a magnetic rear fender protector (black) which covers the factory rear fender clear film perfectly. I put these on the car after its has been freshly washed and cleaned and prior to heading off for a track adventure then remove when Im home. Works a treat and only around $70 delivered...pictures of it on my car at the track a month ago...

I went all out. 3/4 of car in clear film and opti-coat on top of all of it. The opti-coat was experamental but I am happy so far. Clag marks wash off 90% of the time. Then a wax will remove the rest. The coating itself needs just a wash, no waxing. Has a wet look that is pleasing. Seems to have been a good gamble

Still recommend Carpro TarX, spray on clean microfiber towel and wipe straight off, no need to let it sit or soak. Done in about 3 seconds and that's on the factory shield.

Tell me about it. Had it on my 993 14 years - done it twice already needs doing again - could have painted front end of car for what it's cost and its lost its shine after year two...
