I'm also in for groupbuy. Need red stitching though.

Default Why

Just one question - why would Suncoast be offering REPLACEMENT wheels - that model has just come out - just think its a bit early for a new wheel to be needed - just saying ...

Chatted with my sales person and the dealer principal yesterday. They are going to find out if this is a direct swap. If we don't have feedback quickly they have promised to take a steering wheel off an RS when they arrive at the end of the month and fit it to my car to test.
Looking forward to that.

Someone will figure it out. With regards to swaps like this I wouldn't put much faith in a dealers comments, I have heard some crazy reasons before on why things can't be swapped, most of which proved to be absolute made up BS.

Default RS Steering Wheel in the GT3

Saw this in another thread. This guy seems to have figured it out, proves it's possible. Looks like an RS wheel in a GT3. Does anybody know the car???

Not only RS wheel but Akrapovic rear valence and presumably exhaust. Suggests that even if changing to the RS wheel costs a fortune that would not be an issue for this owner.

So I had an opportunity to take measurements of the new GT3 RS wheel when the car arrived at my dealership on Wednesday last week.

The size of the 2 steering wheels, both in terms of diameter and the thickness of the rim are so close as to be virtually identical. If anything the RS wheel rim is slightly thinner at the thumb grip position.....
This was a real surprise to me.

The measurements that I took (with a fabric tape measure) were as follows:-
Existing GT3 wheel:-
Circumference: 117 cm = 46 inches
Diameter (across the centre) = 35.5 cm = 14 inches
Rim at thumb grip position = 10 cm = 3.9 inches
Rim thickest part above thumb grip position = 12 cm = approx 4.7 inches
Rim at round part of the rim = 10.5 cm = approx 4.1 inches
GT3 RS wheel:-
Virtually identical except:
Rim at thumb grip position = 9.5 cm = 3.7 inches

More importantly, because the RS wheel spokes are all black without any chrome accents, it looks a bit cheap in my view. The Macan steering wheel that I also had a look at is better because of the multi-function controls and chrome detail.

It's a pity but in my view not worth the change even if the cost was reasonable.

^Interesting, LKS, that the GT3 steering wheel measured 1.5 cm smaller in the car you measured than spec. Porsche officially lists the GT3 diameter as 37 cm and the RS as 36 mm (close enough to your numbers):

Hmmm...

Even weirder the motor journalists all have made a point (including Harris) of how nice the smaller RS wheels in the hands?

Tried to change ED 2016 GT3 build to include RS wheel.
"Exclusive" Porsche dealership could get Lava Orange seat belts from RS, but a big NO on the RS wheel.
Lava Orange belts "special request" in standard GT3.........$2,470.00!
Imagine what the SSR-RS "Super Special Request" RS Wheel asking price would be? Ha!
No thanks on both.
Best be careful with Chris Harris and the power of his words.
Standard Wheel is fantastic.
