The biggest difference is the FUN when you drive.. The GT3 has an electronic diff and rear wheel drive, making it alot of fun to drive on both the street and on the track. If my interest was purely to go fast, then the turbo is the right car, however if it's FUN you're after the GT3 will always be the winner.
All manufacturers are going towards 4WD to get the best acceleration and etc..., but they are loosing the fun in driving...
The GT3 is one of the most appealing cars for me, and the Turbo is one of the least.. Funny how to similar cars have such different characters.
Finally let's never forget to mention the sound that comes out of a GT3. Puts a smile on your face everytime

If you also take into account that the TTS doesn't run cup2 tires like the GT3 and Speciale, it makes it even more impressive. There is another 1 to 2 seconds switching fron SS to Cup2 tires.

THIS.
i always find it interesting some ppl buy cars based on reviews, hp figures, ring time, and stats.
i use my butt.
i sit in it, drive it.
then if my butt feels good and i can afford it, i buy it.
i dont know any of the stats on my RS's.

Three Wheelin'
Coming from a 997tt, I can tell you this. The 3 is much more of a race car feel even if it's not the quickest 911. Sound and rear wheel drive makes it so fun to drive. Now I do miss some of that torque but really only when passing on the highway without down shifting. And when it comes to looks, the 3 is perfection. Nothing needs to be done. Now I thought the 997tt was a good looking car but still need better stance the 991tt needs so much to make it pretty in my eyes.

I was a frequent Mercedes Benz customer in the 1970's and 1980's. Then somewhere in the 1990's they lost their way in the styling dept. They have continued to founder there trying to make up the difference with performance numbers. For me it just doesn't play... To my way of thinking the TT and TTS are for drivers who want a Porsche sports car look (and they can't get their heads around the Panorama) but want to drive a MB. The Porsche GT cars are really for those drivers that yearn for the founding Porsche precepts. There are a lot of "fast" cars out there. BUT that is not what makes driving a car fun, especially on the street. Lets face it, of all the hours that we own our cars how often do we log actual track time relative to the overall number of driving ownership hours (most even drive their cars to and from the time on the track). As was said by Mooty above - what really matters is what my senses are telling me about the driving experience, not what some publication produces for statistics. That approach is not for everyone, it's just for ME...
