I went out to the SVD shop last summer and witnessed superquant's car in production. The product and finish quality is truly exceptional. I can attest that there is no "kit car" feel to any aspect of what they do.

As to price/value proposition, I agree that $600,000 is over the top and think that they have marked up the full "bells & whistles" iteration with a 4.0L motor. They were talking upper $3s on a slightly lesser car not long ago. That said, Rob told me there are over 2,000 man hours in each car. I believe he was imputing labor hours associated with various sub-contractors they use, but at a retail shop rate across the board that may be averaging over $100/hour...I can see how with parts and materials the car can run into the $400,000 range. $600,000 I'm not so sure.

Money aside, one of the nice things about this car is its usability. I like CGT's as much as the next guy, but wouldn't want to drive one to the office regularly.

Nobody is getting rich by building the Singers, it's a true passion for the air-cooled 911. Performance figures don't last, how the car makes you feel does.

I don't for a second doubt the workmanship and pride that goes into building a Singer and the result is awe inspiring. That said, for the price of a 4.0L Singer, one could have a top quality original long hood 911 or 356 (which would be more special to me), a GT3 or even RS, a dedicated track car, and a Cayenne and trailer to tow it around.

I understand the "you can't put a price on passion" argument, but still.....

600K would cover my 458, GT3RS, Cayenne GTS, and a lot of my Turbo.

Here's an old Topgear review, shows them out on their test track

For me, if I could only have 1 toy street car it would be a Singer. I think May summarizes it perfectly in his review.

Regardless of the value proposition now, I wonder how a Singer will hold its value over the time.

Will it appreciate like a CGT? Or a 993 RS?

Or will it depreciate like a 996 TTS?

Is forego both happily to get a Singer.
But because I'm poor I'd love to get an Accumoto car as my only car besides a race car

My guess is it would devalue till the shop closes then might go up. Thinking about it, would I pay 500k for this car used? No, I'd rather have my own personalized one.

Do you have a feel for what they have been charging for their (few so far) custom builds. I have a message into them now, just want to know what you think (or know) about this.

Thanks.

+1 - might be a little bit of a bubble now while people don't want to to wait where you can probably get out of it for a small profit. In the future someone might do it better which could cause significant devaluation.

I know $500k is a lot of $, but I'm guessing that most of the negative comments are coming from people who haven't driven, ridden or even seen a Singer in person. They are a work of art. They are certainly not a "kit" or "used" car. They completely re-manufacture the car using a 964 chassis in the same way Ruf still does. Would I take one over a CGT for the $? Probably not, but I would have a hard time deciding.
Hopefully you all get a chance to experience one in person.

CGT isn't for me, but a Singer does appeal to me - just need to have a few good years and accept it's probably a emotional rather than financial investment.

Does anyone know how well a used Ruf holds value? Perhaps it doesn't matter as these cars are very individual and personal to the owner. I doubt they change hands much. And I think that's the point of them as well. This is your car, made or re-made they way you want it. Just think: no PTS bull$hit! And Leather To Sample (LTS) to boot!

Let's be honest, if you are in a position put out $600K for two years to have one built, you can probably have or already own whatever other cars you want.

A singer to me is almost a pièce de résistance, a treat to yourself that is totally and completely unique to your desires.
