Drive a Ferrari 458 and you will understand. If your primary use and enjoyment of the car is at the track, I think the GT3 is the way to go for a variety of reasons and being faster is not one of them. The GT3 is numb on the street compared to the 458...only my opinion having driven, albeit not long...both cars. YMMV.

For 2010 cars yes, if you want one with the factory maintenance plan (2012+) and remaining factory warranty (2013+) you'll pay $225-250 for a coupe or $250-275 for a spider.

I was thinking 2011 as the sweet spot. Factory maintenance worth a 1000 per year. Factory warranty is 3 years. a 2013 is not going to have much warranty left not a reason to pay a big premium. Very little difference in 458's.
I have a 2011 with 3.5K miles it's worth about 200K.
I have driven a 458 at COTA (not mine) it was a lot of fun. It is much better than my skills and did not feel soft. I would not be faster in a GT3. YMMV.
