Here is a dramatic demonstration of how light effects the appearance of the

color of a car. The back half is natural light and the front is artificial.

I saw your IG post, but this is even more apparent. Did the image processor on the phone enhance the difference or is this what your Mk. 1 eyeball also saw?

My mk. 1 eyeball saw if even more distinctly than the picture shows if that is possible. When I was looking back at the car I was shocked at how different it looked and then I wandered over to take the divided picture.

gt3 RS. Hopefully, it will now help with questions for those trying to figure
out PTS for the upcoming .2 991 gt3 & beyond!

Sadly, PAG/PCNA has seen fit to categorize the approved PTS list for their
models as 'Confidential' starting in the summer of 2015. I have been trying
ever since to have this decision reversed since it's very short-sighted. It only
puts more of a work load on the 'Porsche Exclusive' representatives in Atlanta
& Los Angeles...and their dealers. The latest PTS list I have on file dates
from April of 2017 but I can't share if with you because of their admonition:

For the past three years, I have been trying for PCNA or PAG to arrange
a simple meeting with a representative of PTS in Germany. I told them
that I would report back to the readers of Rennlist (my threads on PTS
have over 1 million views...so it's a popular topic!) exactly what they
- Porsche - would tell me about their PTS program. So give them an
opportunity to discuss the limitations of PTS at PAG, explain the decisions
for the short PTS windows...and anything else they want to say about
THEIR program!

I have made clear to them that it's better for PAG to explain their PTS
program clearly to their potential customers to avoid the frustrations
when the requested PTS option is rejected on an order. Their customers
don't really understand why that is...and it's best to explain to all how
PAG runs the program & how best to take advantage of it!

Yet, those requests for a meeting have not been approved. And so I
am giving up on the task. So I ask all of you, rather than to contact
me via PM's & emails on this topic, to please go to the head of PCNA's
'Porsche Exclusive' in the United States & see if she & her staff can
answer your questions directly:

Barbara Boeckenhoff
<PersonalDesign@porsche.us>

Interestingly, PTS is not controlled by 'Porsche Exclusive'. But they
are, by default, tasked with dealing with PTS re: their Porsche customers.
Best of luck with your custom PTS orders. You will need it!

Eduardo

Part 1

As most of you know, PCNA made the anticipated announcement this week that PTS will be available on the MY2016 991 gt3 RS:

***************
Below is the 5/12/2015 PTS list published by PCNA for its dealers:

******************
Each time a Porsche model comes out (e.g. 991 vs 997), the colors must be approved all over again for the particular external materials (aluminum, steel, carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), magnesium, standard bumper plastic, etc) used on the latest vehicles. PAG, via their paint supplier, will do coverage & fade tests for each PTS color requested via 'Porsche Exclusive' & the dealer network. And each color you see on the list has been specifically requested by a Porsche customer. Rarely a color is tested without a specific request from a customer for that particular color on an actual vehicle allocation!

To see how the approved list of colors keeps growing since early in the 991 era, compare the present 2/25/2015 PTS list with the first one we published here in Rennlist on July 25th, 2012 (document was dated 6/04/2012), back when I first started tracking the subject matter on this other thread (link below). The later, which includes more than just information on PTS, has proven quite popular and has currently has over 222K views!

Dear Eduardo,
May I please ask for your advise regarding the slate grey 615, please. I would like to ask if the real life slate grey McQueen turbo 930 is the same color as the modern slate grey 615 (photo attached) ? I understand that this color is very difference in different lights but how come we never seen the modern slate grey 615 in any modern car photo in different lights, which have the same shade as the 930 Turbo (photos attached) ? If you could spare your valuable time to give an advise, this would be very much appreciated..

Thank you very much again for your kind support.

Napat: I personally have no direct experience with 'Slate Grey' code 615.
But there are some that frequent this forum that have custom ordered this
PTS color & perhaps they have researched how it compares to the 'Slate
Grey' of old. Hopefully, they will chime in and let us know.

However I just want to restate that photographs often do not represent how
the color looks in person to the human eye. Lighting conditions, camera
lenses, etc. all can misrepresent the color on the car in photographs. So
caveat emptor.

Glasurit Color Online has many answers to these type of questions...
Would check with a Glasurit Paint shop (that can mix all different Glasurit qualities) to see which one matches and also check with your dealer which Slate Grey is available - mixtures will have changed over the years....

Eduardo and his lovely wife just visited us in Portland. Sorry for the bad picture, but we didn’t think to take one until after dinner! As the father of this thread and expert on all things PTS it’s always a fun visit!

Also visited with Texascarlover last week and again had a wonderful dinner with his wife. Another crappy picture, just doesn’t do this color (Olive green) and the car justice!

Saw an olive green touring parked at Sailish Lodge outside Seattle a couple of days ago.

It is indeed a beautiful color in person.

It was great to see Andre & his wife once again. We spent a night with them
back in 2017 when we bought a slightly used 2017 .2 991S coupe in Beaverton.
On this get together we had a wonderful dinner at a great foodie restaurant
called 'Le Pigeon' in the east part of Portland:

****
We then went to Astoria, Oregon to visit another Rennlister who has the dubious
honor of owning two 'Mint Green' 911's - a old 964 coupe that was brought back
from Japan and a 2018 gt3 Touring. Joe spends part of the year in Astoria and
the other half in Scottsdale. Astoria is a quaint old fishing/cannery town on the
Columbia River close to the NE tip of Oregon.

****
We are presently in West Seattle where we are attending our 13 year-old nieces
soccer tournament in Redmond. But this morning I took a break from the soccer
to meet with a group of Porsche owners that meet each Sunday morning for
breakfast at a cafe in Issaquah. I meet these guys via Rennlist & everytime
I am in town I try to attend their reunions

****
And tomorrow we head to Victoria BC where on Tuesday we meet with another
old Rennlist friend (<3mph) from Vancouver that has a vacation home in Victoria.
So it has been a Rennlist-intense sojourn in the Pacific Northwest on this trip!

Eduardo
