Thank you for your thoughtful note, zx5. Very valid indeed re: PCA & Stout.
I don't know anyone that has been contacted by PCA to be recruited for their
'color exercise'. But from the looks of his response, I think Evil is already
packing his overnight bag for his trip to PCA headquarters in Maryland. And
thanks for remembering the color graveyard* & those that reside there at
Feurbach. May these hues rest there forever in peace....and I pray they
may not get back out on the approved PTS list under any circumstances!

I go by their graves everytime I visit the factory
at nearby Zuffenhausen...just to make sure these
colors are still buried deep in dirt & have not been
resuscitated by some 'kitschy' color fashionista hired
by PAG at the last minute!

I see that Bahama Yellow is on the list. I think that is an awesome color but I find it interesting that I've never seen it on a water-cooled 911. Perhaps I am in the minority in thinking it is a great color.

JAM2 - thanks for sharing. Great to see it in a modern 911. Looks awesome. It may be the lighting, but it looks less orange and more yellow than the Bahama from the 70's. The same can be said for light ivory (which is the PTS color I went with for my GT3T); the lighting in the top picture is not the greatest but the light ivory from the 60's looks whiter than then light ivory from the 991 R. Interesting how the colors change over the years.

You’re welcome.

I saw a picture comparing Oslo blue from the 70s and a current one. 70s car looks to be a few shades darker. I wonder if the newer colors, being water based, have something to do with the shade variations.

Photography has changed somewhat since the 70s too so impossible to tell how different the modern versions are without side by side comparisons.

Porsche will not explain much (if anything) about how they formulate colors to match vintage/historic
colors. But the fact they gave it a new color code, Z14 and not the vintage code (110) tells me it was
reformulated. But to what extend, we really don't know pending more information from owners of the
new PTS Z14 examples vs old.

Default A word of caution on posting the 'Confidential' Porsche PTS list

Evil: I think we should warn new forum members, like the fellow from Tempe AZ
(Dkk), that Porsche does not want the PTS list posted on public forums. He may
not realize that what he is doing could get his dealer in some trouble with PCNA
& PAG.

Here is what I posted earlier this evening on that 991 thread that Evil brought to
our attention in an earlier post:

"

Dkk: Did you happened to notice this stern reminder from Porsche that appears
on EACH page of the list you just cavalierly posted on this public forum?

Do you know that the dealer that made that list available to you can get into
trouble with PCNA & PAG if they find out you posted on a public forum?
Why don't you asked them if what you did is OK before this can get you
into further grief with your local dealer, either Chandler or North Scottsdale?
So caveat emptor.

Personally, I think it's a very short sighted policy of Porsche to insist in keeping
this list 'confidential'. And I have been lobbying hard for them to change it.
The policy started around May of 2015, perhaps as a result of our successful
effort here on Rennlist to make both PTS & 'Porsche Exclusive' options better
known & less opaque to Porsche customers. Some of this education was
accomplished via the following threads with the contributions of many members
of our enthusiast community worldwide. And it was a very informative &
relevant information that helped many with their Porsche custom orders!

*
And as soon as Porsche created that 'confidential' label back in 2015, I explained
to the readers of Rennlist that in my opinion it was totally wrong & counterproductive.
Here is an example that I wrote about it as it appears on post #1 of the revised
thread 'Reference Guide to PTS' which is a 'Sticky' on the 991 gt forum:

*
Even though I still receive copies of the latest Porsche PTS lists from various sources
in Europe, Middle East, US & Canada, I have chosen to honor Porsche's wishes. Thus
I discontinued my practice of posting these PTS lists in public. Ultimately it's their company
& their business...and if they are entitled to do as they please with their options. Others
may not have the same concerns or care to adhere to Porsche's wishes with regards to
this PTS list. But I just wanted you to know the issues before you go any further in case
it might save you some headaches if you were unaware of the 'confidential' nature of this
information.

land him in 'hot water'.

The print out I think is a guideline.
For example a 992 color is Aventurine Green Metallic.
I wanted to get it for a 991 allocation next month,
however it’s a PTS. Not worth $11,400.
'Sapphire Blue' is an approved color,
not only for the 991/718 but for the
Panamera/Macan. And it has been
on the approved list for a period of
time. So this is beyond a 'guideline'.
By the way, the PTS list posted by
Dkk is dated 6/26/2018.

And if history is going to be repeated,
Porsche will start the PTS approval
process from scratch when the 992
starts production. Every new model,
with its new surface materials &
interior trims, will need to be feasibility
tested to make sure it will work correctly
(not fade at different rates, etc) on these
new surfaces & not create a warranty
nightmare for Porsche. So don't assume
that a color you see on the PTS list for
the 991 will be automatically available
initially for the 992.
