Am I Crazy to Try and Track Down a '16 Allocation?

Am I Crazy to Try and Track Down a '16 Allocation?
After seeing all of the awesome cars with Sport Buckets at the Smokies event, I really, really want a '16. (I promise it's not due to the few rock chips that I got.) You guys aren't going to believe this, but my wife doesn't view this as a breach of the 5 year NO NEW CAR contract! That is assuming I don't get killed selling my car.
Let's assume I could sell my car with 5,200 miles, 2,200 of them from the Smokies trip, between MSRP and $5,000 off; why wouldn't I do it? There are a few options I'd change, but I would end up ordering pretty much the same car.
What am I missing here? Am I deluded thinking I could sell my car so easily? Does anyone know of any available '16 allocations? I mean, what dealer would want the famous Money2536 to advertise their dealership with all of the crap that I post?
By the way, the RS is not an option.

You can get close to MSRP for your car, run it thorugh your dealer to save the tax, and order a 2016 at MSRP. That's exactly why I am doing it - because I say - why not? I'll have a car 2 years newer, for almost $0.
They are extremely hard to come by right now though - Hennessy, who I would guess got 30-40 GT3's in 2014 / 15 has only gotten 1 allocation thus far and it was for a VIP.
Yes - do it. It's a no brainer.

... I've had my Rhodium Silver 2014 GT3 with 4475 miles on market, via Rennlist Classifieds/Vehicle Marketplace since April 27th ... some queries, mostly from CA, one from TX ... no one's pulled the trigger yet. Price is $5000 off MSRP; my asking price is $139,500. I see 2015s with 1000-2000 miles selling for $150,000+.
Wishing you GLWS. I'm throwing in a full exhaust system + OEM exhaust system, full XPEL, BMC high performance air filters, AND spare front OEM fascia/lip (small cosmetic damage from small animal hitting fascia led to replacement) ...
Hope we can both get a price not too different from MSRP for our 2014s.

Comes down to how much you could get for your 14 as I'm sure you know.
Personally, if you were going to lose 5K or more off your 14, I would rather just use that $$ and get some better aftermarket buckets, like sparco, OMP ect and keep the 14.
Or sell your current seats and get some sports buckets to replace them with.
If you were to get msrp on your car and don't wan't to deal with the hassel of swapping out the seats, while getting a zero milliage 16, who could fault you for that rationale.

Money, if you have wife's blessing I'd say go for it !! Not that's a different car but a new game for you to pursue and all of us RL'ers will learn as you play it out!! I have total confidence in your success!!
Sean love your fall colors , the dates don't work for me , one of these events will just make them work, missed out on Atlanta as well .

WOW! You were able to pull it off with the wife! Good job. No breach of the contract.
If you can pull it off I say why not. Even if you don't you know you would still be able to enjoy the GT3. Good luck.

Why not just wait for the 991.2 GT3.
By the time you actually take physical delivery of your 2016 GT3 with the LWB (~late 2015/early 2016), in about 6 months afterwards dealers will have allocations, and taking orders, for the 991.2 GT3, which will be delivered around March 2017.
Just something to think about. If you really just care about having the nicest, shiniest new toy on the block.

There was a post in another thread on here on PAG probably not going to be allowing anyone but RS customers to order LWBs due to continued production shortages. Probably worthwhile making sure you get to the bottom of that too.

the problem is no 16 GT3 allocations... or many of us would do the same.
I put my car in classifieds recently in anticipation of a 16 gt3. If I can find an RS or 16 gt3 allocation, I don't mind selling now and waiting a bit.
My car is 15 gt3 with the LWB and I agree that they are a must have, as are PCCB to me. 3k miles on mine, listed at MSRP, will probably end up taking a little below.

Surprised your wife is cool with you ordering a 16 GT3 just to get LWB, even though you don't plan to track your GT3, and that the LWB passenger seat will be less comfortable for her than your current GT3 passenger seat.
Got nothin but love for your car passion, but yeah, I think you're nuts to try to order a 16 GT3 for the sole purpose of getting LWB, given the two negatives I listed above.

Money-
One man's opinion:
-You will lose 5-10K on your '14 by the time you sell or trade for the '16
-The 2016 will cost you 10-20K over MSRP if you find one
-That puts you upside down 20-30K
-If you love your car and are attached to it. Wait and order LWB's for 7K (Get on the Suncoast list)
If you have the dosies and want a different color/LWB's/spec change/less miles etc. I guess. But it doesn't make sense to me. I'm not sure how people say they are trading 14's across even up for 16's?
You're the Money Man do the math!
Good luck!
