Am I Crazy to Try and Track Down a '16 Allocation?

I would not do it. Seems like a big hassle and stress just to get the same car with different seats. I'm not sure the tax rate in Florida, but in CA, it would cost over $10k due to the tax loss even if you are able to sell for msrp.

In CA the tax loss is more like $15k (2nd purchase). On top of the $15k paid on the 1st purchase. CA non carry-over sales tax policy is a brake on car sales commerce.

Man you're car is great ......you will always find something you want different. End of the day remember it's a car, and something will always be new or newer(:

IF you can sell your 14 close to MSRP and IF you can find a 16 at MSRP it makes sense. A lot of IF's and good luck finding an allocation for a 16. Another option may be to pick up a slightly used 15 with LWB's.

I agree with everyone else, it seems like a waste of money just for the LWB. That's if you can sell your car for close to MSRP, but that seems unlikely. Seems people are having troubles selling their cars even 5k below.

There is a lot of "ifs" in the analysis. If you can make it work and the stars can be aligned then I'd say "Give it your best shot". I would also ask that you drive one of the cars from your recent "smokies" trip that has lightweight buckets to make sure you like them better. I like the blue but if you can get a PTS blue all the better.
You might have better chances of getting a hole in one or winning the lotto though. Or maybe order one for European delivery with clubsport package. You are famous now, Matt.
Good Luck.

I knew you guys would have good insights. Since I am "famous" I'm guessing I could find an allocation somewhere, but I think you guys are right about the hassle. It's starting to stress me out just thinking about trying to make all of the stars align. I think if one of the dealers that I called (I called three of them where I have relationships) comes up with an allocation, I may explore it. If not, I'm certainly not unhappy with my car.
By the way, I would argue that the LWBs are quite helpful on or off the track. We had 6 1/2 hours in the seat on day one of the Smokies, and I didn't hear anyone complaining about being uncomfortable.

Matt, see what your 3 dealers come up with, then make your call. Have you asked what your car would trade for? If it was me, I would do for it. Best of luck.

At this moment, getting an allocation might be the tougher obstacle. I've been dealing with that for the better part of a week & best I've come up with is being #2 on a dealers list that probably won't get 1 allocation, must less 2!! Although, I am #19 in line at the Vegas dealer & that's my lucky number....so maybe there's a shot there!!! Lol!!
