991 GT3RS

$50k over insane to me. Obviously very personal depending on your wants, financial situation, etc. But you asked. So I say insane. That puts you in 250-300k category, lots of options there...including a really nice 991 gt3 and something else - either investment, or another toy, or whatever. $10k over, maybe. $20k maybe but probably not. $50k over no way.

I think the 991 will dip when all the RS are arrived and all flipping is going on.
Than they will rise as demand outstrips supply as it dries up due to no more production till 991.2RS arrives.
Maybe this time the value will be more recognized as other cars are now again much more $$ than a GT3 and there is so much easy money slushing around that they will shoot straight up till the next bubble bursts.
If the market crashes again, everything is minus 25% overnight.

The new 991 GT3RS 4.0 with identical Engine HP, offers a far superior Chassis,
improved Aerodynamics, larger Wheels and Tires for superior mechanical grip and will undoubtedly provide superior performance on the road and the track.
If the 991 4.0L GT3RS has similar multi-year Value Appreciation, it would repay all of its original investment, even at an elevated price, plus better than bank interest.

Agree. My dealer just sold a used 1GT3 at 18k over. $50k premium for a new RS is not something I would pay, especially since I have little interest in the RS, but it doesn't surprise or bother me one bit that some pay it.

Hmmmm...... Maybe not. The 997 RS 4.0 with similar Specs, 500 HP, 339 Ft. Lbs of Torque, MSRP $186K - $205K, is now selling for $350-380K used.

less than 5000 miles are 450 on average. that's actual transaction not asking price

Spence, you're certainly right re: the comparative performance specs. However, and this is just my opinion, as good as the new RS will be it will never compare to the 997 4.0 as a value proposition. Very limited production numbers, pinnacle of the Mezger engine, manual transmission....the 997 4.0 is in a different league from a collectors standpoint.

Very limited production numbers, pinnacle of the Mezger engine, manual transmission....the 997 4.0 is in a different league from a collectors standpoint. Unless someone keeps a 991 RS for a long time (which doesn't seem to be the norm around here) I think it's highly unlikely that the extra $50K over MSRP would ever be recovered, much less be a good investment.
huge price appreciation on air-cooled and limited edition Porsches? Certainly not I. Nor would I believe that "normal" 3.6L and 3.8L GT3s and GT3RS's would be selling at very close to their new prices. Porsches 5-15 years old at prices
approaching the latest models!!!!? Or my old 1993 RS America which my son sold for $33K 2 years ago could now be resold for $133K - or my own GT2 Race Car
would now be worth 5X the price I sold it for a few years ago?
Frankly, I, like you I suspect, would never pay over MSRP for ANY new car - no matter how attractive it seemed, but that is at my limited wealth level. If I were super-wealthy, and the money meant little, I might feel totally different.
I have no idea where resale prices of Porsches will be years from now, any more than I know where stock prices will be - but comparing those investments, IMHO, GT3s or GT3RS's, with their rapidly diminishing normally aspirated Engines, are a safer bet for appreciation. They will always retain their functional value vs non-functional Stock or even Bank Deposit Certificates which inflation erodes.
I diligently remind my wife of this each time I purchase a new car - LOL

If the buying a car for investment, better have a crystal ball and then take good care of it. If buying to drive it, then we are all 'crazy' for thinking we need to spend six figures to have fun, but many lust after these machines and have $$ to spend while they still can. There can be no 'rational' answer to the OP's question.

its a toy not an investment, 50k over youll never recover, your money do what you want, paying it only encourages the behavior, did you pay extra for playstation 2 or tickle me elmo, I didnt.
