And they have all been done with a smiley face after to be sarcastic. Please people. One can certainly do whatever with there money as they wish. He asked if he should pay 50k! Over. I gave my opinion. I think that's ridiculous. If you don't think helping someone less fortunate with that money and paying msrp for the car is not a good decision so be it.

forlit, if you have to ask, then dont pay. that means you are not desperate enough for the car.
first hit of heroin is usually free.
then price goes up.
addict rarely ask, well last time was $100, now it's $10k. should i pay for it.
no they JUST PAY. bc they need and want the hit.
if you are asking for opinions, then you are not convinced that's worth it.

Agreed, principle for me, just don't like the idea. yet if the journo's are right and all "2000" allocations are spoken for this may be the only way to get an E- ticket for the ride. If I'm being truly honest with myself I love the look of the RS vs the GT3. Love the wider body the vents over the front fenders and huge downforce will have massive gains in the corners. Never been a hp counter or even stat guy (0-60times, top speed etc mean little to me) but that feel in the corners, crazy turn-in is what got me started on the GT3 bandwagon and all signs point to this RS being the bee's knee's in that department

Dealer sold my GT3 for $15 over. If you have the money and want an RS bad enough then just do it. None of this makes any financial sense.

As has been discussed before here on RL, autotrader, cars.com, etc., can be rather misleading when it comes to the GT3 market. Some of those cars have sold. Some are just advertisements (e.g., Ralph's listing). One is actually a Cayman S. One is actually a Turbo S. But more to the point, it looks like the vast majority of the ones actually for sale (if not all) are are above sticker.
I'm happy for folks to believe there is a bunch of gently used 1GT3s on the market for MSRP or under; I'm just not one of them. Rather than further derail OP's thread, this will be my last comment on the topic.

997.2 RS are slim pickings; 997.1 RS and 997.2 RS 4.0 are very slim pickings. GT3's are only slim pickings if you're picky and don't want to put in real effort. Plenty of people found and continue to find RS 4.0 when none are available.
To OP's original question, paying over MSRP for any car especially a non-limited production Porsche early in its release cycle has been proven time and again to be a bad trade. But as Mooty points out, he's already answered his own question by asking in the first place.

To all the dealers listening....I'll pay over MSRP but ONLY if I can get a Voodoo Blue RS. If any of the dealers that frequent RL and can pull this off, I'll be more than happy to pay over MSRP. COME AT ME!!!

I found a 4.0 at MSRP., 188k stripped. I just had to wait a year and have a wire ready to go.
Sold with profit and didn't donate it all to charity.
Had 3000 miles and was menstrual red inside.
Sold it with 7200 miles most track.
This was post 2008 and pre next bubble though.
And you can't be too picky.
In 2011/12 a used 997.1 GT3RS went for 85-95k orange and green whatever you wanted.
A 997.2 GT3RS went for 110-125k. People said you're nuts for paying $188k for a 4.0.
I think the 991 will dip when all the RS are arrived and all flipping is going on.
Than they will rise as demand outstrips supply as it dries up due to no more production till 991.2RS arrives.
Maybe this time the value will be more recognized as other cars are now again much more $$ than a GT3 and there is so much easy money slushing around that they will shoot straight up till the next bubble bursts.
If the market crashes again, everything is minus 25% overnight.
