Your view on 991.2 GT3
The baseline of GT3 have been always
the Carrera 2S chassis engine tuned for her
Now that the 991.2 Carrera 2S engine goes to Turbo
the next GT3 is not an easy call but for sure will stay NATURE
so 2 release of the same engine available (3.8 or 4.0)
the only options to keep the cost for .2GT3 under current .1 RS are
1 Keep current .1 GT3 3.8 engine pdk etc. and improve here and there
with some marketing carbon and maybe suspensions just to show some effort (basically a facelift) "close to 0 improvment"
2 Put the RS 4.0 but 9000 RPM plus minor facelift keep the rest as today and no carbon no weight reduction "5% improvement"
3 Keep all as it is today 3.8 engine etc. (it s all very good) plus a minor facelift*
AND plus (a dream of mine ) a completely
redesigned pdk s = two 3rd to half the current 116 kg heavy weight as anticipation of 992 pdk*
Goals Save a lot of weight , Zero investment because from 992 R&D budget with the benefit to provide a testing baseline for upcoming 992,
Faster than current GT3/RS so well received as evolution
Options 1 and 2 are very good for current GT3 market as changes are just cosmetic (0 to 5% increase of performance)
Option 3 is highly improbable because Porsche is not anymore*
visionary but a VW company? ( A challenge here because they listen...)
What's your view?
P.S Option 4 The nightmare : .2 GT3 with 991.1 7 speed PDK derived manual trasmission...

The RS will not go to 9k rpm due to unnecessary increased piston speed. It lessens reliability with no performance benefit. That would be like increasing the gt3's red line over 9k just because. As it is 8800 RS and 9000 GT3 red lines have same piston speed. Both make peak hp at 8250 rpms.

1-Slight weight reduction with some of the carbon fiber body panels like the RS.
2-same engine tweaked to produce 490hp.
3-manual option.
991.2 GT3 will sell out because its .2 and manual option.
Don't think the GT3 is getting the 4.0L engine until the 992 GT3, but I hope to be wrong.

I may be wrong, but believe he was referring to the the fact that the 9A1 C2(S) engine does not share much with the GT3R either. He has acknowledged that the GT3/RS 9A1 engines will be used in the race car. The GT3 9A1 shares little with the C2 9A1. Basic architecture, but that's about it. Lot to love about the iconic Mezger; hopefully the 9A1 will deliver.

the link between the marketing so called Mezger 997 and its GT3
like the link we have between a 9A1 991 CxS and a 991 GT3 is there very visible
and so forth to the R versions
991.2 CxS being all Turbos will have much less THAN TODAY to share with .2 GT3 /RS
.2 GT3/RS has to stay NA for a while thus current 3.8 /4.0 or if god bless either 4.2L
point is where the budget will go ? Weight , PDK, nothing ? Any wish?
differently than some RL trolls After all Porsche listen to their Customers isn t it ?
