I note he said that it seemed to have a lot more mid-range pull than the std. GT3. Thinking that's primarily a gearing issue. Hard to believe that an extra 10lb. ft. Is making that much of a difference.

But also, area under the power curve matters too. Even if the RS only has +10 torques, it may much more area under the curve and earlier in the rev range.
That actually makes sense as to why he says it pulls harder in the mid range. Because up top, the standard engine catches up a bit.

It's been fixed.
Now it reads:
Now it reads:
Entry speeds are way higher than on a 997 generation car. In fact, Porsche claims a sub 7 min 20sec lap of the Nurburgring in this car, which isn’t much quicker than the last 4.0 GT3 RS, but on a conventional circuit I think it would be miles faster.

It may not seem like a lot of torque on paper. However, the .2 gt3 had a similar improvement over its predecessor and it felt vastly improved. It may also provide a broader curve. Like vantage posted above...
IIRCC, only the final drive is different. (Thanks Mike)

Probably a combination of factors. The difference in mid range pull is very noticeable between 997rs3.8 and 4.0!
