I note he said that it seemed to have a lot more mid-range pull than the std. GT3. Thinking that's primarily a gearing issue. Hard to believe that an extra 10lb. ft. Is making that much of a difference.

The 4.0 is a big step up from 3.8. Peak torque doesn't tell you anything. It is a very meaningless number for the GT3 - it is almost directly proportionate to the peak hp, and doesn't tell you anything about the engine's flexibility.
IMO, this is the most significant change when comparing the GT3 and RS.
