Default 2014 991GT3 PCM failure

Hi everybody

My 2014 991GT3 PCM started acting funny yesterday. It would turn off every minute or so and then reboot and turn back on, displaying the Porsche emblem like it was starting up. It keeps happening every 60 to 90 seconds or so and is
very annoying. I took it to the dealer and they said they need to replace the entire PCM. They have to order one from Germany and it will take 4-5 days to arrive. Have any other 991 GT3 owners out there experienced this? any thoughts on what it could be and how to fix it without having to wait or another trip to the dealer?

mine is fine. I took the car to dealership for 2000 service last week and they updated the pcm for me due to a tsb. service advisor didn't explain anything though.

No problems here and, unfortunately, no suggestions for an intermediate fix either. PCM is basically a computer and sometimes computers glitch. It may be a hassle but waiting the few days and making another trip to the dealer to get it replaced is surely your best course of action.

My GT3 is fine but something similar happened on my Cayman R early on. It locked up on the Porsche emblem screen. Dealer futzed with it for a week and then said it was dead and had to be replaced with new from Germany. So, unfortunately it happens.

No issues with my gt, but my prior 991 S had a PCM failure. Would just go blank for periods of time. Dealer replicated the issue and PCM was replaced. No big deal.

Mine is a 2015. Upon delivery with 20 miles, it acted thesame way. I still have not gotten the replacement PCM from germany. Is now 30 days. Frustrating.

I doubt it would be 5 days. My SA said it is made to order. If it did arrive in 5 days, you are one lucky hombre.

Mine is still acting funny. It would even turn on even if it is off.

I started to have a similar issue with mine a few weeks ago, soon after having my NavTV backup camera installed. Even though my install did not require the PCM to be opened up, I was worried that something was screwed up and that I'd have to pay for the repair. Dealer did a software update and then realized that another update was released that day so did the new update too. PCM has been fine ever since.

Sounds like there are some software updates for the GT3! It'd be nice if there was some sort of notification for owners to take their cars in when this was the case.

did they upgrade your pcm twice during the dealer visit? my upgrade was done last week and it was called service action wf27. is that the latest one?

we have a conductivity problem, with no or intermittent IPOD connection. they have ordered a cable between PCM & glovebox connection, hope they don't have to replace PCM. Gordon

Well, I thought my PCM was fixed but it rebooted again yesterday. I seem to have the trouble when my phone is plugged in and I am playing music from one of my apps. All of a sudden (maybe after hitting a bump?) the music stops playing on the PCM and starts to play on my phone speaker. I try to unplug and plug back in, change sources, etc., to get the PCM playing from the phone again and all of a sudden the PCM reboots. I actually used to have similar experiences with the PCM in my Boxster Spyder. Never did resolve those issues.

Yes, twice during visit. Not sure which upgrade.
