Default Buttonwillow With Speed District on 5/23

Any else going?

I'm going to be going there a bit late, but Speed District always puts on great events and it should be fun.

I'm on the fence,it maybe the last track day on this car. GT4 coming 9/6..
The problem is i either have to go up the night before or leave @530 am.
Its 167m from santa barbara .That makes it a 450+ mile day.
Although its easier in the cayman than it was with an exigeS with nitrons running 800 lb sprigs.
Is any body going up Friday and staying at the beautiful Buttonwillow zero-star
Super8? I think the presidential suite is $49.95. Carl

Talking about the fence - is there any entrance fee to sit in the stands and laugh at the whole lot of ya? I might come out just to have something to do. I've been back in Long Beach but I come up on Friday nights, Bakersfield, to help out with my mom so I can help looking after things that my father would have taken care of. Crazy, it still feels like he is here among us but it's been a while. Sorry for going off topic and being a bit esoteric.

I'll be there in my Lotus. Another Lotus buddy is coming along as well. Will try not to be a moving chicane.

After driving up the night before a few times, I discovered I hardly get any more sleep than simply leaving from LA early in the morning. It makes for a long day, but not doable.

Where from in LA? I would make the trip from Long Beach on the same day wake up at 330am and on the road by 415am - stop off at Tommy's on Beverly for Breakfast - nothing like a sausage and Chilli sandwich to wake you up. But coming from Long Beach, about 130 miles to Bakersfield. I made the trip a million times so I feel programmed to make the trip and it's no big of a deal and I can hardly remember the drive either way if it was uneventful. That and you can save money on the hotel! Personally I would stay at my mom's house, or brother's, or Aunt & Uncle's. I have a million options for places to stay without paying! But if I get a hair up my You Know What I would just drive back down to the LBC!

I wish Sharkwerks would show up, Dan use to Live in Bakersfield but I imagine they have more pressing matters that require Alex and Dan's attention. I just want to see their new modified 4.1L car scream around the track without any sound restrictions. Which could happen. I'm so surprised the people who actually live in Buttonwillow haven't made a stink about the nose. Guess they don't mind since these track days bring money into the local community. Unlike the asses who bought homes near Laguna Seca and then complained about the noise from one of the Best Track's in the world. I don't know who to blame... The Moron's who built or sold lots for homes near the track in the first plplace? Or the people who didn't do their due diligence in their surrondings and type of environment the house was in before buying and moving in! Then the homeowners had enough money and political contact's to create Noise Restriction except on special days that need permit's.

Sorry for going off sunbject and my babbling. I know many of you GT3 track driver's with Sharky or Akrapovic et al muffler won't pass muster noise wide at Leguna Seca.

/End Babbling

I'm coming from downtown.

Doesn't seem like there are that many homes close to the track, but I could be wrong! Never really explored.

Isn't there nothing for like 10 miles around Buttonwillow? I know there isn't a gas station that close...you have to get back on the 5 to get gas...

No way of telling what will happen to the surrounding area's of Backersfield within the next 10 or so years. Bakersfield practically more than doubled since the late 90's. Though I would say Buttonwillow and other town's are a stretch. On a cool and windy day sounds can carry for miles. If you had some really frigen loud cars. But I could see the community over there increasing in size to where it could become a problem. But I doubt resident's would make a stink because when the racers come to town they brink and spend their money. But sometimes it only takes a few old farts to ef up the party. Personally I only been there one time when a computer went down at their Library. But that was 15 plus years ago when I worked for Kern County Library system. They got a couple of good taco stands. Pastor y Lengua que sabor or is it sebor?

Nothing. Just nothing.

Makes Bakersfield look like downtown Manhattan.
